I've gotten E74. That was the end of that 360, there was nothing to be done about it. Fortunately I still had warranty so I got a new one free of charge.

My Xbox currently has one section of red on the ring(Bottom right corner) I was wondering has anyone had this problem and can you help me?

By the way the error code is E74
and turning it of and on does not work. It also started with a weird black little dots all over the screen.
Shit, E74 is bad shit, get it fixed IMEDIATLY, my friend got it and Microsoft said that it is a virus, it gets attached to your computer and wrecks it to. Sever the internet connection as soon as possible and send it in before real damage is done. This may be a overadzaduration but this is what i heard about E74.

Also it was made by a Japanese guy living in his mamas basement, and he's 30.

Other. That son-of-a-***** scratched my World at War disc. Two perfect circles around it. And then the connecter (wireless) won't connect to my router half the time.

I got an E74. Had a warranty though, and just sent the console in. They probably just sent back a new one instead of repairing the old one, but I'm not gonna complain.

Not upset, but would prefer if you would speak to personal experience, opinion or facts next time you talk about any console, not just 360. I respect the people on this board as well as PS3 owners enough that I won't blatantly flame their console of choice.
I might be missing something, but isn't that exactly what I did? That is speak from a personal experience.
I've already said I had no problem with your personal experience. I never get offended by someone's opinion or retelling of their experiences. It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience with your 360 and you ended up switching to PS3, but there are way more people out there who are wholly satisfied with their 360 experience.

Many of them, myself included, really hate that god-damned survey because it's a gross misrepresentation of what we feel is an overall positive experience, and is the equivalent of political mudslinging in the console war. "54%" is made up flame bait bullshit and I'd appreciate if everyone here would stop trying to pass it off as fact.
no worries. I know I was really happy with my 360 as well, but having 2 break down in less than a year (the first I had owned for a while, but the second I had just bought) and not being a 30hr+ a week console gamer just got me pissed. On top of that my girlfriends brother was having trouble with his 3rd or 4th as well, but I have a friend who's still sitting on his 360 from when they launched (I cant' remember when that was).

Though, I think the reason why a lot of people were passing it as fact - including myself - was mircosoft's response which basically boiled down to a shrug. But, that being said I know I was pissed when my PS2 broke down way back when (before Sony brought their console's reliability up to par)...So...yeah
*snip* I wasn't about to jump ship with more Halo, Crackdown, Splinter Cell, Alan Wake and Mass Effect 2 all coming down the pipe. So, I just went ahead and grabbed an Elite.

*snip*
That's why I keep my PC up to date...well for Mass Effect 2 and dragon age at least 8)

Mine sometimes reads games as DVDs, and then when I select "Play DVD," it informs me that I need an Xbox 360 to play the disc in question.

My 360 has never given me any problems. I've only had it for like 2 years though.

gotta check the error code it gives you when you turn it on.

xbox's have a 54% failure rate, and it sounds like yours did exactly that.

I know when my 2nd 360 bit the dust I got a PS3 (now that they're 300). It was funny the Gamestop employee asked if I wanted the warranty the store offers, I said no. The employee chuckled and said that PS3's don't need them, but he would have really tried to get me to buy one if I was getting a 360.
Obvious troll....
I'm not sure how you deduced that... it seems a reasonable post to me.

I have a big problem with my xbox. My dad fucking stole it.

I suppose that may need some explaining, so I'll get one that. I do live with my parents so I still have access to it(sigh, one day I'll be able to afford freedom) his DVD play broke and, as I'd supidly attached it to a TV outside of my room, he claimed it as a DVD player, upon finding it was far better quality than any of the other DVD players in the house and that it would play divx off of a USB decided I wasn't going to move it. Gaming on it is now all but impossible

...Guess I've learned from that, when I got my PS3 it was moved into my room and as far as my family know it won't play any form of media except blu-ray.

I am the only person that I know who is still on his origional 360. My DVD drive did stop reading the disks after about 2 years, but I just replaced the drive myself, and its working perfectly again :)
It's my old faithful, but it's true they don't make tech like they used to.
Same here, my circle of friends all have the box of x as well and at last count only 2 of us have (so far) gotten away without suffering any issues.
Me too.

All fo my buddies have been ring-raped at some point but me. I live in fear.

Even my GF's dad's 360 red ringed. They used it twice.

If you have the open tray error, just put in the game and when it is reading, tap continuously over the c.d. drive untill . it loads, it works REALLy well

I now can't help but feel that in the next few days one of us will experience 'issues' with the 360.

The gods of fate have been tempted. RUN!
