The Single Player was pretty standard. Story was crazy and wierd. I was pleasantly suprised to see weaver, a minor character as he was, survive at the end (i like minor characters).
The multiplayer was fun enough.
Overall, i liked what it added to the multiplayer over the other games, even if weapons like the crossbow and ballistic knife were a tad gimmickey. Guess its nothing to write home about.

Best part of the game was seeing the Reznov appearance. That was pretty cool imo, how they linked it to WaW.

The campaign was an uninspired, convoluted conspiracy theory, but the multiplayer is a balanced compilation of fundamentals imposed by the second Modern Warfare. It does, however, show many of the weaknesses of establishing a balance with so many variables.
Also, it loses a lot of the wackiness that MW2 had, with part of that going to the uninspired credits unlock system, making the whole ordeal tedious.

Along with Treyarch's mixed relationship with its community after nerfing sniping initially, adding RC cars which are essentially roaming claymores, the game is overrated and instead of uniting the Call of Duty communities, it fragments them further.

story was fucking epic, loved every bit of it. Did't like the mp as much as mw2, but thats only cos i suck and cant get a kill. same goes for zombies, i didnt even know where to turn the power on.

Campaign was kinda fun. Multiplayer was fun for a bit but it got very tiresome and repetitive. Zombies didnt really do anything for me. But the wager matches were great and intense.

I bash COD alot but its alright I guess, i just hate the morals on which its made. "Its popular so we make one every year."

I liked zombies, and I thought the story felt less like "here's an excuse for video game action", and more like a comic book with a non-linear story. Multiplayer was enjoyable, as always. Nothing more.

single player was average, good the first time and varied but no replay value and multiplayer was awful (although all CoD multiplayer is IMO). Entirely forgettable game.

Meh, it's alright. I played it on my brother's 360 when I popped home one day. Completed it in less than 6 hours on hardened, felt really underwhelmed and see no reason to replay it. I didn't touch the multiplayer but as far as I'm concerned, I'm not paying 30 quid for what is effectively MW multiplayer with a few bits bolted on. =/ It's just a really generic shooter that's somehow got lucky.

Plus the cheek of Activision sticking an extra fiver on the RRP for what is fast becoming the FIFA of the FPS genre is ridiculous.

Black ops, good:
- Singleplayer end twist
- Balanced perks
- Dedicated servers*

Black ops, bad:
- Punishment if you derailed in singleplayer, even accidental.
- Horrible MP level design!
- Fewer MP weapons.
- No Spec-Ops.
- Why do people call Survival gametypes for "co-op"? It is true it is "Co-operative", but so is Team Deathmatch... Co-op SHOULD mean co-operative campaign.

* MW2's online matching was unplayable for me; 1 of 4 games was unjoinable, 3 of 2** games had horrible ping, and all of them had cheaters.
** Yes, it is mathematicly impossible.

It was an OK game, the story and zombie mode was were I thought it really shined. Never really played much multiplayer. Still have to get around to beating the story in Black Ops.

Pros:

Not as much pandemonium as MW2
Single Player great fun
Vorkuda level was incredible
Perks are relatively balanced for the most part
Guns feel pretty good to use
It's COD - so runs smooth, controls well and feels good to play

Cons:

Spawns suck
SMGs are useless apart from 2 of them
Hit detection is atrocious
Lag spikes all the time
Host advantage far worse than in other COD games
'LOST CONNECTION TO HOST'
Second Chance
RC Cars
Corner Camping Culture
Ugly ass maps
The knifing
Huge maps
It makes me rage harder than any game I've ever played
Pretty much this. Also, a lot of the guns feel too similar, not really many differences between the vast majority of them. A lot just feel like reskins of other ones. MW2 had better variety when it came to guns.

the singleplayer was good and had a very interesting concept for the story
the multiplayer is more "balanced" which makes the game suck cause only 2-3 loadouts actually work
the spawn system and lag still suck from MW2 and the idea of $15 is stupid

Multi-player is well designed.

Single player is a giant turd.

The campaign was action packed, to say the least. Unfortunately it had the effect of making people numb to the action because it was done way too much. It was pretty much linear levels that drove you from set piece to set piece but it was enjoyable overall.
The multiplayer was, well, good but it stuck to the cookie cutter gameplay that CoD has become known for.
After I finished the campaign, the multiplayer held my attention for about 3-4 weeks before I went back to MW2 and eventually CoD4.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the fact that the netcode was not as good as MW2 or CoD4.

[HEADING=2]Hold it![/HEADING]

See that's the one thing i don't get, at least the lag and epic glitches in MW2 were entertaining as hell. Case in point infinite ammo for everything on Rust. Funniest thing i've seen for a while.

The point is the pandemonium actually added something to MW2's rage enducing gameplay. It's like if you were normal CoD one minute and then a second later you were playing Bizarro CoD where everyone wears clown noses and is constantly carpet bombing the entire map with unending AC130 bombs while laughing maniacally...

Compared to MW2, Black Ops is just bland coupled with epic rage...

The multiplayer absolutely pales in comparison to CoD4 or even MW2. Terrible netcode leads to terrible hit detection. The spawn system was downright broken for about a month after release.

Bots were a good addition though. Hope that comes back for MW3.

It was a big 'Meh'. Black Ops defiantly had an amazing campaign and zombies was fun as usual but the lag, hit detection, host "advantage", and the sheer amount of douchebagary snuffed out any fun I may have had. On a side note, there is a lot of lulz when a certain White boy joins in your lobby in High Roller Wager matches.

I didn't so much hate it, it's just that it is was so disappointing.

I respect what they tried to do differently with the story but you could see everything coming a mile away and the actual campaign was just boring despite the whole thing pretty much being an action set piece.

None of the zombie maps included were any good unless you got the limited editions and you had to pay 15 bucks if you wanted one decent zombie map and four useless multiplayer maps because of multiplayer's issues.

Multiplayer is the most disappointing because it was the first CoD to actually remove bullshit like stopping power and juggernaut in all their forms and added all these great new features like theater, combat training, and general balancing.

But none of it matters because they managed to make the host advantage even worse than it was in the last games. I just don't play the game by myself anymore because it is just not fun to play a multiplayer game where the outcome has so much to do with who has the host even when I often have the host.

Do you mean that the host has less advantage or more?

I honestly don't see any advantage in being host (at least, not on the 360), so I see that as being a pro if anything.
