Yep. I plan to be a blood donor too.

While we're talking about it, sort of, does anyone know why gay people can't donate blood? And does anyone know if it applies to bisexual people?
I think it's something to do with the fact anal sex increases the chance of transmitting AIDS.....I think.....
It's not that it has an increased chance of transmission, it is that a larger percentage of the gay community carries STDs than the straight community.

I'm an organ donor. When I was asked if I wanted to be one, I just thought, "Sure, why not? I won't be using my organs after I die." All I care is that my organs don't get donated before I die.

No, i am not an organ donor, and do not intend to be one.
Reason you say? I'll make it simple....I care more about my organs than the lives of most humans on this planet (and i'm 15 and technically 15 and thus illegal to do so).
The reason people give their organs is either for
1. They hate their organs
2. They do it for money
3. For a loved one
4. They are delusional about something
That is the only reason i came up with so.......yeah.
Also....WHY did you sign the Form??
Generally people donate organs AFTER they die. Unless you have some huge ambition to become a zombie I don't see your point of view at all.

You're not illegal to do so. As I said, in the UK when you're 12 you can sign the form.

I don't hate my organs, I'm not doing it for the money, I'm not aware of anyone I love that's in need of a transplant & I'm certainly not deluded about anything.

I signed the form because I've been considering signing up for years now.
When I was 10, my friends sister fell ill and needed a transplant. She waited months and months for one because they struggled to find an organ which was available. Luckily, she did eventually get an organ but it was very nearly too late for her. After seeing that happen, I decided that I wanted to be an organ donor so that should I die with my organs intact, several people's lives could be saved.

Think of it this way. Imagine you had a child. Let's say they're 10 years old. Suddenly, they fall ill. You get told they need a lung transplant or else they WILL die. Can you honestly say that you would not take that organ on the basis that whoever signed up for it, did so for one of your stupid reasons?

If you're willing to take, you should be willing to give.

I don't see why not. Though I do understand certain religions want the body intact. All I know is if someone wants it they can have it when I'm done.

well ive taken good care of my parts so far so they will still be in good working order if i dont manage to live forever and if im a corpse i certainly wont be using a bunch of organs so give them to the people with the greatest utility though i would be pissed if they gave my liver to an alcoholic and or anything to a smoker

Im not one
Im too young i think...
I cant see why you wouldnt be an organ donor, your dead, you dont need it anymore.
In the UK, you have to be 12 to legally declare yourself as an organ donor.
Oh... well in that case then im just to lazy find any place that can make me one.
Online, probably. I know that the NHS allow you to register online. Not sure about where you live.

I think organ donation should be mandatory for everyone, Or at least an assumed consent thing. You should have to sign up to not have your organs donated, not the other way around.

[sub]search bar approved. all i could find was something about what you want to happen to your corpse when you die.[/sub]

A few weeks ago, while walking around Glasgow, I was wandering through the train station when I nearly tripped over a small woman carrying a clipboard. She thrust it up towards my face, saying "Would you like to become an organ donor?!". That's exactly what I did. I filled out her little form and bam, within 30 seconds I had signed my organs away to be fired into someone else should I die. That's a very blunt way of putting it but it's essentially true. Because of my age, she told me to make sure that my immediate family were aware of this fact. When I told my mum and step-dad, there was a contrast in opinions on the subject.

The questions I pose to you are:
Are you an organ donor?
If so, why? If not, why not?
If you want to be an organ donor, why aren't you one already?
No, i am not an organ donor, and do not intend to be one.
Reason you say? I'll make it simple....I care more about my organs than the lives of most humans on this planet (and i'm 15 and technically 15 and thus illegal to do so).

But what use are your organs to you if you're rotting in the ground?
Why not give them to someone that needs them?
Well it seriously depends on the circumstances does it not?
If i died in a glorious gun battle against aliens then....i don't think they'll want it.
If it was for a loved one then yeah why not!
Also i was talking about if i was still alive. and i intend to either die of old age and/or in a glorious gun battle against or with Gordon Freeman. Thus making that line of conversation moot.

I remember there was something mentioned about this in school. Apparently protests happened in the UK for organ donation to be an "opt-out" system. Which would make more sense because a lot of perfectly good organs go to waste because people never bothered to sign up...

I have no problem with organ donation, it's just that you may not have died and they will harvesting your organs. When organ growth becomes public this won't be a problem anymore unless you don't have the money.

Everything except my eyes. You can take everything else, my skin and organs, but leave my damn eyes. Aside from finding it creepy, I want my real eyes with me when I die.

The organ donor lady got a little miffed when I said everything but my eyes. They're mine, damnit. You're already getting the rest of my insides.

I figure I'm doing enough damage to my organs as possible so if someone had the opportunity to take them it wouldn't really be worth their time so no, I am not a donor.

I am. I don't really need my organs after im dead. Someone else could make much better use of them. Especially if it's like, going to save their life and stuff.

I am not an organ doner at this time, but I am considering changing that the next time I need to renew my liscence.
