No, i am not an organ donor, and do not intend to be one.
Reason you say? I'll make it simple....I care more about my organs than the lives of most humans on this planet (and i'm 15 and technically 15 and thus illegal to do so).
The reason people give their organs is either for
1. They hate their organs
2. They do it for money
3. For a loved one
4. They are delusional about something
That is the only reason i came up with so.......yeah.
Also....WHY did you sign the Form??
Generally people donate organs AFTER they die. Unless you have some huge ambition to become a zombie I don't see your point of view at all.

You're not illegal to do so. As I said, in the UK when you're 12 you can sign the form.

I don't hate my organs, I'm not doing it for the money, I'm not aware of anyone I love that's in need of a transplant & I'm certainly not deluded about anything.

I signed the form because I've been considering signing up for years now.
When I was 10, my friends sister fell ill and needed a transplant. She waited months and months for one because they struggled to find an organ which was available. Luckily, she did eventually get an organ but it was very nearly too late for her. After seeing that happen, I decided that I wanted to be an organ donor so that should I die with my organs intact, several people's lives could be saved.

Think of it this way. Imagine you had a child. Let's say they're 10 years old. Suddenly, they fall ill. You get told they need a lung transplant or else they WILL die. Can you honestly say that you would not take that organ on the basis that whoever signed up for it, did so for one of your stupid reasons?

If you're willing to take, you should be willing to give.
I will answer both of your questions with a short story
In a 3rd world country called the Philippines There lived a boy named ************ he was poor hungry and lived in slums that both of you cannot imagine.
Then one day, a man came and offered him P1000 (equivalent to $20) for him to give one of his organs.
The Boy, was overjoyed! he gave the man his kidney, while he got P1000, enough for him to buy rice and fish for him and his family for at most a month.
The Kidney was then put on to the body of a 70 year old man who paid the doctor 5 million dollars for the organ.

I live in the Philippines, things like these happen everyday. My "Government" does half-hearted attempts to stop this but cannot, due to this old men paying for their salary.
I refuse to give anything of myself to the kind of Government that does.
It is of course different in your countries, but this is the case in mine.

Everything except my eyes. You can take everything else, my skin and organs, but leave my damn eyes. Aside from finding it creepy, I want my real eyes with me when I die.

The organ donor lady got a little miffed when I said everything but my eyes. They're mine, damnit. You're already getting the rest of my insides.
This made me think of this:

see, that I understand but accusing people of being delusional and whatnot because they want to donate their organs to a genuine cause... that's just low. are you trying to say that you don't agree with organ donation because there's some fucked up people in your country?

[sub]search bar approved. all i could find was something about what you want to happen to your corpse when you die.[/sub]

A few weeks ago, while walking around Glasgow, I was wandering through the train station when I nearly tripped over a small woman carrying a clipboard. She thrust it up towards my face, saying "Would you like to become an organ donor?!". That's exactly what I did. I filled out her little form and bam, within 30 seconds I had signed my organs away to be fired into someone else should I die. That's a very blunt way of putting it but it's essentially true. Because of my age, she told me to make sure that my immediate family were aware of this fact. When I told my mum and step-dad, there was a contrast in opinions on the subject.

The questions I pose to you are:
Are you an organ donor?
If so, why? If not, why not?
If you want to be an organ donor, why aren't you one already?
No, i am not an organ donor, and do not intend to be one.

What the fuck? So basically, you're an idiot, or an angsty 15 year old trying to be cool.

Most organ donations are made once dead. Cos, you know, donating your liver while you're still alive is pretty stupid.

1. I love my organs, therefore, you are wrong.
2. There's no money in it when dead. Plus i wouldn't recommend like, selling a kidney anyway, thats silly.
3. Fuck yeah for a loved one. But again, if im dead then my organs are fair game imo.
4. About what? Saving someone's life.
Look to the Post below you.
I will accept your view because it comes from Ignorance. But try to let me explain first why don't you eh?

Well, one of my "dreams" if I can ever win the lottery or something (which I play infrequently) is to have myself, or at least my corpse/head cryogentically frozen so I can hopefully be brought back/recovered in the future when they have the technology to fix my brain, or clone me a healthy body, or whatever else since I suffer from problems stemming from physical brain damage, and have coped with them my entire life to one extent or another.

So basically I have no desire to promise my organs in case they are needed and I get lucky. Sure you can always reverse the desician, but I wouldn't want a mistake to be made.

Besides, I have mixed opinions about respect for the dead right now. I actually have little problem with treasure hunters pilfering tombs and such for stuff, but even if empty I do think bodies and remains should be treated with a degree of respect. You donate your body/organs to science, and chances are what's actually going to happen is it will wind up
as a plaything for a bunch of medical students. I mean yes, doctors have to work somewhere, but I really don't want people playing practical jokes using my severed head, or wind up going (eventually) into an incinerator or whatever just the same, except this time with a toe tag that says "F" because the student failed and simply mutilated my remains while demonstrating his incompetance.

I'm not sure whether my organs would be any good, seeing as they're riddled with Ehlers-Danlos.
But I signed up anyway, 'cause hey, what the hell am I supposed to do with them once I've kicked the bucket?

I apologize then. So you guys REALLY, Seriously want to do that then? Well, it's not my decision, but i seriously did not seek to insult your goals. You guys want to give yourself to people after you have died, i find that admirable. But i cannot do that in my country as you have pointed out.
Being in this kind of Environment, Encourages you to look out for yourself, encourages you to survive and win, no matter the cost. I was too narrow-minded to see that it may be different in other countries. For that, i apologize. *bow*

For fuck's sake... There was no trace of angst in that. Call him out on being a fuckwit, not a 15 year old. It just pisses off the rest of us in that age bracket when you associate us with morons.
.......*deep breath* can one of you PLEASE read the conversation i am having with Dahni?
You guys can insult me all you like when you hear me out ok!?
Also.....i am 15.

when I can I will, it seems ridiculously selfish not to. Worst case sceneario you're in monkeybones and the doctors chase you (a living corpse of Chris Kattan) trying to get your organs.

I'm not yet, but only because I'm too young.

I take the klingon approach to bodies after death. Nothing of the person left, why care about it?

Might as well let someone else use the meat.

No. Not yet at least. Mainly because:
A) I'm too young.
B) It's one of those things that my mother will definitely hate discussing and I won't be able to get around to. :p

I can whole-heartedly say that's what I want to do. In a leaflet I was given, if I was to die in a road accident with all my organs intact, I could save the lives of up to 8 people. If I'm pretty much gone anyway, I may as well give up my organs to people who stand a chance.

I don't blame you for wishing to keep your insides to yourself, there's definitely an injustice going on there, but in my country, they won't take anything until they're sure you're dead and your organ is only ever given to someone who needs it, ie. not a 70 year old man who is, for lack of a better expression, on his way out as it is.

Apology accepted.

cake is always nice.

How old are you guys & where are you from?
(I'd look on your profiles but my browser gets pissy)
Because as far as I'm aware, the age for declaring consent to organ donation is pretty low.

EDIT:

And wait, you thought that people sign up to be an organ donor to donate while still alive?
Yeah, the last second comments about "Definitely not while I'm alive" are certainly confusing me.
