but wait, why stop there? there's tons of other unproven shit you can believe in.

Fate,
sorry for cutting off a big part -MadeinHell
Hey! I believe in fate! For example my faith is to drink a lot and die when I'm old! And so is most of the population. Actually ALL the population (I mean death ofc).

But seriously now. I once used oujia board or however its named and nothing happened.
I believe in ghosts mostly cause I want to believe that there is something AFTER (even if it totally sucks) but I doubt that any ghost (or even a DEEEMOOOONNN) would give a shit about that piece of plastic. But my friends got all hyped up about that so... we used it. At least there was free alcohol :D.

Yes I've done it and I don't recommend it. Its a much more direct divination system than things like astrology or the I Ching and you can get answers using it that you wouldn't normally be able to (things like names or dates), but 97% of the time its really not worth it.

I like to know what I'm messing with before I mess with it and the nature of Quija makes this impossible. Both times I've done it I've gotten results and had very civil conversations but felt weird for days after. In my opinion, its better to avoid the things.

I tried one once.Nothing happened. No one even had the balls to move the spelling thingy to at least make it look like something was happening.

Ouija board by Fisher Price! Jk...

Seriously, those things are so bullshit though. I think Calvin and Hobbes says it perfectly to be honest...

I totally get that you WANT to believe in something after death, what I don't get is the why part. What reason could you possibly have for believing that ghosts exist instead of the traditional religion afterlife? I understand religion, it's passed through through tradition and it's got a book that can be interpreted as proof. But there's no proof that ghosts exist,
so I don't get the foundation of such beliefs.

In the end it's all a personal thing that can do nothing but benefit you (if it's not a fear of ghosts) and it's a belief that will never affect others, that makes it a good thing to believe in in my book :D.

I've always wanted to screw with people while Ouja-ing, but I haven't done so.

A piece of cardboard and a piece of plastic acting as a bridge of communication between the living and the dead? Oh, sure! Of course I believe that.

I don't think a board game you can pick up at your local Wal-mart has the ability to contact the deceased.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I had a female friend who believed the fucking things where real (she was a goth.) So one drunken evening she busted it out, I put my hands on it, AND THE THING WEN'T CRAZY! My hands flew across the board with that little glass thing and it distinctly spelled out "you're retarded"

Never seen a shred of evidence to back it up. But then I can say that about a lot of things.

here's Penn & Teller's take on it, including messing with the board and hilarity does ensue
Substituting one form of lying crap for another (Penn Jillette and his particular brand of "truth" [http://www.bautforum.com/off-topic-babbling/33158-penn-tellers-episode-second-hand-smoke.html]) is not a good strategy for maintaining credibility.
ok so because he got something totally unrelated wrong, that means everything is wrong? and of all things using some guy's forum post, so the post is actually pretty flimsy in discrediting anything in the episode.

you also probly didn't even watch what i had posted and just decided to discredit it with something totally unrelated the subject. if this was a debate about second hand smoke that still wouldn't be a valid discrediting.

so really you've done nothing to prove me right or wrong and done a lot more to discredit yourself and any points you actually bring up in the future. i mean if we just toss out everything someone says because they made one mistake, then well Einstein, Edison, Banting, Bell, Wright and MANY other people wouldn't be trusted or even thought of as good scientists.

I've never tried it and don't intend to. My mom apparently did when she was younger, and strange stuff happened, but only short term. After a while the strange things stopped happening (she doesn't like to talk about the actual events so I don't know what happened myself). But nothing's happened for a long time, but since I've seen evidence in other areas of the paranormal, I don't want to risk myself by testing the Ouija board and seeing if that's also true like the other paranormal things I've personally encountered...

Yeah, I've used a ouija board, but nothing happened because we were in a house that didn't have ghosts haha

I don´t believe in Quija Boards, ghosts, spirits or any other sort of superstitious nonsens..
However, I don´t play around with them for fear of them believing in me..

A bit off topic:
But it is funny to hear all sorts of people calling it nonsens, and then finding out they believe in God :p
