Neither. I just go with the flow.

I'm a nice guy who doesn't sympathize with "keeping cultural history intact" and "religion". And always takes a payment.

Paragon. I just feel bad when I do "evil" stuff in games. Even in games like GTA I try to be as good as possible (except when I play just to have fun and go on a rampage through the city).

Well, since Mass Effect does not actually allows to play a full-on Chaotic Good character (pissfights with Turian councilor notwithstanding)...

C'mon, now. If you cant save the galaxy with honor and integrity, you shouldn't be wearing the uniform. Who's with me?
I'm with you.

It's always like that: come on, shoot that dude... it dosen't matter, you're saving the galaxy... Come on, be an asshole to this guy - you're a Spectre, who's he gonna call?... Come on, accuse that alien instead of human criminal... you're not going to betray a member of your own species, will you?... Come on, beat up the policeman, he's only going to interfere with your investigation... Come on, kill those civilians, no-one's innocent...

Eventually you find yourself sitting on a trone of skulls and bones, opressing masses, waging wars, burning down orphanages, eating kittens, raping puppies, kicking babies, and gleefuly torturing your best friends as they scream in agony - just because you can do it, because you have the power and you get high on abusing it.

Conclusion: power corrupts. Being a complete douchebag with a side of specieism is not the best way to counteract that corruption.

Renegade? Really? I keep thinking that the choices I make effect humanity's standing in the Galaxy. What's the point of saving humanity if I'm making them look like assholes?
lol exactly what i was thinking. yay u saved the universe but made everyone hate u and now the whole universe wants to kill humanity. *thumbs up for renegade* of course that doesnt happen but.... no one likes an asshole :)

I go Renegade all the way. If I'm going to be a badass, I may as well be a BADass. Also, the renegade dialogue is just so much better, and the ME:2 renegade interrupts are infinitely cooler than the wussy paragon ones. Besides, I've always preferred The Punisher way of doing things.

I've always gone with the paragon options.
Not like I have a choice, this one is practically programmed to make the good moral choices.
Not much else to say, really. Except...
That perhaps I am odd. Gore and blood and all that is funny, yet I always go for paragon.

By the time I'm done, the scale on ME1 and ME2 seems to be maxed out on Paragon, about a quarter or so on Renegade, so I have my asshole moments, but for the most part I play the hero. Talked Wrex down, talked Saren, etc.

And while it is fun to knock Kalisah one in the face, it's way more fun ( IMO ) to just make her look like an idiot, which is actually even more acute in the second game then the first.

Although, some of the Renegade Interupts I'm not entirely sold on them being Renegade. Like during Miranda's Loyalty mission and this guy is talking about lining up shots, is shooting first REALLY renegade when you know they're about to shoot you?

Hmm, I guess Han Solo plays as a Renegade Shepard :)

I play once as the good guy and play another as the bad guy. Apparently if you play as the Renegade, you get laid more. <.< this was true for the first game. Not sure about the second. XD

Renegade. If I'm going to decimate a whole race of planet destroyers, being a pussy is not an option.
Being good does not = pussy.
Sometimes it does indeed mean the same thing. Not always, though.
The two can align, but they are never the same thing.
Align? If two things align, then they are the same thing. For the time, at least.
No, if two things align they co-exist, or are somehow related. They still retain their individuality.

Except in Mass Effect, you're not The Punisher fighting against the entire motherfucking New York City bursting with crime and corruption. You are supposed to be a hero. A HERO! You're not in the world of black and gray morality where it's okay to set entire city block on fire because there's only criminals there - instead, you are in fairly realistic universe, where "The Punisher way of doing things" includes being an asshole not only to irredeemable monsters-of-a-criminals, but also to completely normal people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! Think about that for a minute.
/rant

Sorry for that one, i just find it kinda... jarring... when savior of a galaxy also happens to be a complete pillock for no good reason. I mean, if you are going to be a dick to everyone, then why are you saving the galaxy in the first place rather than help destroy it?

While I do think you have a point, you have to admit, The Punisher got shit done. No pansy assing or walking on eggshells. I have to save the damn galaxy. I don't have time to talk about people's problems and give them a shoulder to cry on. I do, however, have time to give them a nice bullet to the head. Seriously. The mission is to save the entire damn galaxy from Reapers. I figure that so what if I kill a few dozen innocents that get in my way and impede my mission? I'm still in the positive as far the balance goes.

EDIT - Oh, and to answer the whole why am I saving the galaxy in the first place question...it should be fairly obvious. Because I live in it.

I've always done a run on paragon first, and then one on renegade.

I won't lie, renegade is so much more fun on ME2. Dropping the counsel's calls over and over on ME was fun as well, but I find ME2 to be so much better in the comedic values and just overall badass of renegade.

The jig is up, the news is out, they've finally found me...

I love them both equally.

Paragon for the unrelenting sense of justice, doing the right thing in the face of oppression and standing up for the little guy.

That side quest in ME2 when you find the Volus credit chip and then both the C-Sec officer and the Volus act like complete douche bags to the Quarian, and I hit the Paragon trigger...man Shepard was intense in that scene, and completely sold me on being Paragon.

On the other hand...

Being an evil badass can be fun too. Kicking people out windows, executing criminals mercilessly and forwarding the advancement of humanity is always good times.
