My parents have been hardcore gamers since 1987!
My dad once played so long in one go the SNES burned out :\
Nintendo of Netherlands was nice enough to replace the fuse for no cost, even after the warranty had expired. Too bad they misspelled my name really bad, and my dad thought it was hilarious to call me by that misspelled mess for a decade...

I know... old people!!! ;-)

My parents strongly disapprove of me "wasting my time" playing video games. Although almost anything that isn't studying or running seems to constitute "wasting my time" these days.

My dad used to play some games. He's the one who introduced me to Space Quest, Doom and probably a couple others I can't remember right now. He does't play that much anymore, definitely not new games. My mum occasionally plays some casual flash games or solitaire, but not much else.

I'm going to make a wild guess and say she probably plays shanghai/mah jong solitaire, not actual mah jong. I'm sorry, I know I'm nitpicking, but that's just one of the things that annoys me more than it probably should, and I really wish people would stop mixing those up. If she does actually play mah jong, then ignore all this.

Well you're both right and wrong. She is part of an actual mah jong group that meets every now and then that plays with the actual tiles (she learned the game from when we were in Japan and introduced it to her friends back in the states)

But yeah, she plays the solitare version for video game purposes. I know they're not the same, and I should have specified. Sorry about that.

I tried to get my dad to play a couple times but it never stuck. He doesn't really want to try though he does enjoy watching me play. I don't mind if he watches me on the PS3 while next to me but I can't stand people looking over my shoulder which makes him watching me on the PC impossible.

My mom played a lot of casual games, especially when we got her an ipod touch. She had problems gripping things with both hands so the touchscreen was perfect for her. She run the battery dry at night sometimes.

Fair enough. You could suggest that she look up Four Winds Mah Jong if she wants a single player computer version of actual mah jong. I have it and it's pretty good, and has a ton of different rule sets. It's not free though, but it's good.

My Dad never gave a crap about videogames.
My Mom plays them very rarely and even then it's Wii stuff (see what I did there?) like New Super Mario Bros. or Wii Sports. She has been wanting to try out the Assassin's Creed series and I've given her a go at Uncharted 1 (it was ungodly painful to watch) and if we end up getting a second controller we'll do some Portal 2 together and maybe some Marvel VS Capcom 3 (it'll still be painful to watch but atleast I'll get to do something besides giving out meaningless hints)

I don't know if he still does because I haven't seen him in years, but he is the reason I got into gaming. He taught me to write basic code(all of which I have forgotten now) and even helped me make a really basic arena deathmatch game. I have fond memories playing Doom, FF7, Goldeneye, and duckhunt with him.

Although she doesn't seem like she would at all, my mum used to. My mum played Duke Nukem 3D when she was young, which I find kind of funny, and she used to play Abe's Exoddus with me when I was little.
She doesn't play them anymore though. *sniff*

My dad tried playing IL-2 Sturmovik, and ended up finishing the single player campaign (which is abnormally prolonged and difficult) for each faction, then loaded up the Multiplayer and kicked some ass there too.

The man that I used to consider to my step father plays them. He's relatively good at it. I used to watch him a lot.

But I watched my brother a hell of a lot more. I still do.

Well, both my parents have occasionally played games, but they're not proper gamers. My mum plays Wii Fit, if that counts. My dad plays some Facebook game, or at least he did, I don't know if he still does. My mum used to like titles such as the original 2D sonics, but she has no interest in new games.

Also, my new Captcha thing was just the IKEA logo, and then "describe the brand using any word(s)". That was... strange. Now I want a new chair. Called Otker or something.

My dad played games with me a lot when I was younger and was the one that introduced me to them, but these days we rarely play together. His skill leaves a lot to be desired, but he's fun to play with.

My dad plays GTA IV on my PS3 all the time, he mostly uses cheats and goes on rampages, it's pretty fun to watch.

Well considering Ive been alive since what was the begining of the gaming revolution Ive always considered myself the adult in this question. However, its something that is mostly beyond my mothers time. However, she did take perverse joy in playing mike tysons punch out and my sister and I even got her to win on her first try at fat princess. So she can, its not really anything she really enjoys or goes out of her way to do
