My dad doesn't, and I'm not sure he's ever played any games in his life. However, he seems to have played the PS1 games we still have, and every time I go to sell them online or whatever (as I don't play them anymore - we still have a PS2 at the moment to play them on) he says to not do it as he'll eventually want to play them...

As for my mum, she's a casual gamer. She used to play Crash Bandicoot ad Spyro the Dragon, before those series jumped the shark, and she has her own Wii and plays stuff on there. Plus she's borrowed my DS a few times to play Mario Kart and Professor Layton games. She actually got me into gaming by playing the PS1 years ago, but she's not exactly a nerd about it and hates when I spend more than two hours at a time playing games (which is actually better than before - she used to limit me to one hour a day when I was younger, before I went to university...).

My parents play Dr. Mario and Tetris on an almost daily basis to unwind before bed. My dad still has a N64 that he still pops in Goldeneye every once in a while. I wouldn't call either of them hardcore. But they play regularly.

My mum used to like racing games, but she doesn't really bother any more.
My dad owns a PS3 and plenty of games for it but never has enough time to go on it; he's into stuff like GTA, Gran Turismo and EA sports games.

My parents don't really play games. My mum barely understands what a computer does. My dad is good with computers and he used to play games with me but I think it was more for me then him. He played around with the spore creature creator when it was released for a little bit.

My mom has no interest whatsoever, and my attempts to explain Bioshock, HL, and portal usually falls on deaf, humoring ears.

My dad will watch me play, and ask questions, but they're never serious. "Gee, you always die. Are you sure know what you're doing?" or "So when do you have sex with the blue chick?" He basically trolls me while waiting for me to finish so he can watch tv.

My dad is the one that got me into gaming. He's been gaming ever since he was a kid too, he'd tell me stories how he'd sneak into the office during lunchtime to program games onto the computers. Or when I was little I asked him why we had a Sega instead of a SNES like everyone else and his reply was "Nintendo is for kids, I want to play games too." However the Sega was the only console he owned since after that he became a PC elitist until he Mass Effect came out.

My mom on the other hand, is a casual gamer. She plays more than any of us but she just likes digital versions of classic games. She loves Professor Layton because it's pretty much analog puzzles with a story, but the game she plays the most is Club Games. Yet solitaire for the DS (among other card games). If it had a game timer she would of broke it, I'm pretty sure she plays that more than all of my Pokemon saves combines.

My family is awesome, when we have family game night it's usually Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Not to mention my parents play better than most of my friends.

I'm 34 now and my dad, who passed away some years ago got me into gaming. We used to go together to the arcades and play Elevator Action and Space Invaders together. A few years later I remember he was into Out Run and Operation Wolf.

He taught me some Basic programming and we used to type long programs that came in magazines to enjoy simple games afterwards.

When I got my Amiga 500 he didn't play much, but he used to watch me playing and enjoy the amazing graphics and sounds of the computer.

I'm pretty sure he would be amazed at the advancements in the quality of graphics nowadays and he would enjoy watching me play Bioshock, Half-Life 2 or Mass Effect. It's a pity he didn't get to see all the amazing technology we have nowadays.
