I've got to side with consoles, less to go wrong, controller feels easier to use (except for TBS/RTS games). Even though I try to mainly play RTS/TBS games because they rock all sorts of awesomeness, I still have to give my vote to consoles.

PC gaming. Always.

1) Keyboard and mouse
2) Better graphics and use of AA & AF
3) Full HD 1920x1080
4) Hardware customisation
5) HARDWARE PROGRESSION
5) Cheaper games (see: Steam)
6) Not full of shrieking kids like Xbox Live
7) I don't need to drop $2k+ on a 42" television and more for a decent surround system. Rather, I can get a 24" LCD and route the sound through a Creative X-Fi Fatality or better with a decent pair of headphones.

L4D, CSS, Cod4, Cod5, Tf2, Fallout 3, Dirt, Grid, Battlefield 2, Stalker + expansion, Mass, Effect, Vegas 1 & 2, Rainbow Six, the everlasting World of Warcraft...

The list goes on...

The gaming experience for any given game will be technically superior on a PC.

HOWEVER, before the console fanboys start beating down my door, I will acknowledge there are instances where multiplayer is better suited to a console, such as split screen game modes or "party" games on the Wii. Fighters also tend to be better. These can be loads fun.

Please note I am defining consoles as devices that attach to a television (360, PS3, Wii etc), NOT handhelds such as the Nintendo DS. The DS continues to provide a fantastic handheld gaming experience.

It was glorious.
Agreed.

In B4 lock.

I just cannot get on with a PC and Mouse when playing FPS.
TBS I'm fine with 'cus it makes sense. But FPS... I am left handed so maybe that's it. But everyone I know says it's a lot faster on PC.

PC. PC game are so much more versatile and plentiful. Also, consoles can be emulated on a PC.

FPS games have better controls on PC. (For me.)
RTS games actually come out on PC. (Excluding games I don't want to play and bad ports like SupCom 360)
X-Com is not out for consoles, and games like it never will be.
Turn-based strategy on a very large scale (MoO 2, Civ 4) doesn't seem to be represented on consoles very well.
RPGs can be modded (easier if at all) on PC.

Etc, etc.

I'll just leave the list here because I don't want to cause anyone any harm, and I've already given enough reasons why I prefer it.

PC gaming. First you get to shop, and buy all kinds of fancy items you want in your rig. Then you can play lego, and put it all together making your own little humming machine. You can do everything with it, watch movies, download them, work, roam the internet, listen to music, create your own media, communicate with everybody, and most of all: play games!

PC games are always cheaper than console games, and there are often nice offers, plus everything is backward compatible so you can play games made tens of years ago. Added up, you have more games to play than all the consoles combined (I may be exaggerating). A big investment at the beginning, but it (almost) pays off in the long run, plus you can do many other things with it than gaming.

Also, for a lot of games you have those wonderful modifications. Some add slight modifications to an already good game, others add hours and hours of gameplay. You can also make them yourselves with a bit of practise. Rarely do you see a(n older) game played in its original state. Not saying that they were bad, but that the mods make it better.

Also, we can play online without payment (except for those poor, poor MMO players) with all the benefits of the game, in stead of some platforms. We also have some useful applications, which for example allow us to chat ingame, browse other websites ingame (I have posted in the Escapist once or twice while waiting to respawn in L4D and other games), and so many other wonderful stuff.

The major problem for most people is handling the PC. For me, that's no problem. I control my machine and know what is going on within it. I assembled it myself, and know how it fits together and what parts might need replacement eventually (which is not the case for now). I configured two of my hard drives to work together as one (RAID 0), and installed Windows on it myself, and installed all the programs I needed. I usually have a good idea what to do if I experience difficulties, which barely happens. But I can imagine that for a lot of people who don't have much PC experience, it can be a bit difficult at times.

I have more control over my character or units when I play in the games I like with the mouse and keyboard. I can't imagine playing a FPS with a stick instead of a mouse. I feel like I am in control, something which apparently is not the case for everybody. It is not an ideal combination for racing, fighting or flight sim games, but I don't like them much anyway.

And, from what I've heard about online console gaming, our online community is far nicer, far more mature, and far more civilised than others. Rarely do I see or hear someone who tries to ruin the game for others.

Did I miss anything?

Edit: Yes actually, the graphics are superior, even though that's not as important to me.

PC, better game lineup and I can do everything your consoles can do and better, I'm also into RTSes and we all know where they BELONG and should ONLY EXIST AT.

The only problem is the costs to actual GET a good PC, but once you have a top of the range PC you don't have to spend another $1000 on a new computer for another four-five years.

It's not that I can't play console games either, they just don't have any games I want to play that aren't on a PC, which is prettier, smoother, more fun and less laggy I find.

A mouse and keyboard feels kind of strange to me, but I grew up on console and only played a PC FPS about 4-5 times.

im mainly a PC gamer, but now and then i go over to the consoles. mainly because the consoles are expensive, the games costs a shitload and i find it confusing to switch between several different games´ controls. for example, after ive maybe played some Digimon Rumble Arena 2, i have to adapt myself to the DBZ: BT3 controls again. vice versa. instead on a PC, its the normal FPS controls. WASD, E, number keys and the mouse.

generally i cant afford consoles, because i bought a gaming laptop last year. also, my mom doesnt want us to have more consoles (we have a wii, ps2 that doesnt work and a ps1).

but in the future ill probably get either a 360 or a ps3.

PC all the way, sure I play every other console now and then over at friends and they're all good. But the games on PC are just way better.

lets just say I've had this argument a lot and ultimately PC wins and consoles are rubbish and should never have been invented.
without consoles pc games wouldnt exist, so better think before you write.

I prefer to game on computers because the keyboard and mouse control scheme feels more solid and precise to me and computers give you access to the internet, with no strings attached.

Without PC's, console games wouldn't exist. How do you think they design them? Better think before you write...

Has nothing to do with controls etc. I just prefer playing with a group of mates in the same room, I find it more fun etc., so it has to be a console

There should really be an option here for they're equal or something but I suppose that would be kinda cheating.

Both have their good points really personally I think the PC games are better online than console ones but that probably because we don't suffer having to here your team mates shout in their mic "OMG I TOTTALY PWNED THAT NOOB" or something along those lines.
Once you get used to the mouse and keyboard I think FPS games, RTS games, certain RPGs and MMO games work much better on the PC than consoles one good example of one where you can game cross platform is Universe At War and someone on the p has much easier time playing against someone on the xbox.

That being said I don't think the PC would really be able to pull off a kinda game like Crash Bandicoot, Rachet and Clank, Jak and Dexter, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Armoured Core and Soul Calibur unless u say connect a game pad to the PC but would really be diluting the experience of PC gaming which is really the keyboard and mouse.
So I'm gonna have to not vote on this one.
