Usually it's morning when I take a shower, and I need to pee after waking up. Because I don't want to use the toilet and then either not flush until I'm done showering, or waiting 15 minutes to make sure the water isn't going to be a combination of freezing cold and scalding hot in alternating cycles, I just pee in the shower out of convenience. Apparently my mom pees in the shower because she can't hold it in with the sound of running water, but knowing that fact has never bothered me. It's all running down the drain anyway, and there are much worse things in this world to freak out about.

I do it almost every time I shower and have no problem with it whatsoever. If I need to go before getting in I usually just do it while waiting for the water to warm up(still doing it in the shower where the water is already running, no reason to waste water on a flush for that), and if not stepping into the warm shower somehow makes me need to go, even if I didn't have to before I stepped in, add a quick rinse over of the walls in case anything somehow managed to splash up high before i step out and that's that.

If it's a bathtub it just seems weird, peeing where you're gonna soak for longer periods of time isn't right, I'm not really grossed out by it, but it doesn't seem right.

I see no real issue. There's so much soap and stuff. I figure it cleans itself.

This reminds me of this topic I saw once about how some people saw nothing wrong with having sex in the shower but had a problem with peeing in it.

Makes me wonder how many people on this thread who don't pee in the shower don't mind the sex thing. And why? I mean, surely, it can't be anymore sanitary.

I used to, but not anymore mainly due to not needing to go when I'm in the shower.

So yeah it's totally cool brah..

I don't just urinate in the shower... but due to my medical condition (that required the removal of an entire colon), I also shit in the shower half-the-time.

The liquid waste coming out of your body is by several magnitudes more sanitary than the solid wastes you're washing off of your body. Just think of all that greasy sweat product carrying all those stinky bacteria, and all those dead skin cells you shed and microscopic wastes you pick up (aerosol spittle, microscopic fecal matter, etc.) that entirely coat your exposed skin over the course of a normal day from who knows where, and suddenly a little of your own urine is nothing in comparison. At least it's largely sanitary on account of its general toxicity relative to everything else in the shower.

Showers are disgusting microbial cesspools whether you pee in them or not. Conserve water and let it rip, I say.

Behold! The Mother of all answers!

It depends.

See, the shower I would pee in has basically just a drain in what is the - in the shower area very slightly inclined - bathroom floor. So, nah. I'm not pissing on the floor.

A shower with a proper tub? I don't see a problem.

There are 2 kinds of people in the world, those who pee in the shower and those who lie about not peeing in the shower

I've been thinking about this recently, thought I'd get some Escapists' opinions on it. Is it okay to pee in the shower? Do you pee in the shower? Would you consider peeing in the shower? And what do you think of those who do...?

I'm totally okay with it, but man, I'd hate to live with someone whose personal hygiene is so strict that they'd hate to find out that I do. What about you, Escapists? Is peeing in the shower okay? Or is it totally gross?
This thread AGAIN?!

Seriously, how many polls do people need on peeing in the shower.

It's gross - you shouldn't do it - move on!

And use the search bar for Gods' sake!

This thread is like some sort of yearly right of passage. Also, OP - you've been here long enough, you have already been through at least one previous peeing in the shower thread where I also said "eww, gross" and told the OP to use the search bar.
...hold on. What?

This has been asked before??

I'm genuinely surprised. o_O'

Yes I do, because if some drips onto my balls I can do another soap pass right then and there.

I think a lot of people here think urine by virtue of being waste has unsanitary amounts of bacteria in it. It was my understanding that healthy urine is for the most part sterile. Other then social norms urine is probably one of the cleanest substances in your body.

Candirusporis gives 3 google results, none of them reputable. The fact that the article perpetuates a known myth about the Candiru throws it into enough disrepute. As for the second link, only if you have AIDS or a terrible bladder infection. It's a lot cleaner than what you're washing off of yourself.

Well, good to know so many escapists are vile and disgusting. Seriously, the water that goes down sink and shower drains is classified differently than the waste water from your toilets, and undergoes different treatment processes. Basically, you're peeing into the water that will be treated as if it had only been used for washing dishes and clothing, not as if it were sewage. You're hurting the quality of your own future shower and drinking water. Besides, don't most bathrooms you shower in have a toilet? Is it really so hard for you to use? This thread is made of shame...

I do indeed. But people who do not partake of peeing in the shower, just know that that it's not like we shower pissers just let it run down our legs. I mean you still gotta aim and whatnot, if I smidge touches my feet it's no biggie.
