I don't think being a gamer has much to do with the capacity to have relationships as long as you can manage time spent in the fictional and real worlds.
I don't see myself as a loner. I may not have an immense number of friends, but those I have are very close. In girlfriend capacity the same is true, I may not have had very many, but most were meaningful relationships

I'm probably happiest when I'm with my girlfriend, but I do most times prefer playing on the PS3 with myself to going out with my friends (I'd drop everything to see my girlfriend though) so I am kind of a loner but I do have a great relationship with my girlfriend.
Ha this reminds me of the other day i was about to beat Borderlands for like the 4th time and then my girlfriend called and asked if i wanted to come over for a bit and im like hmm fuck borderlands will be there tomorrow haha

The origin of the issue here probably stems from the combination of playing alone and having fun alone at a young age (teaching your brain that being alone is better than being in a situation where negative things can happen to you) and the characters that we grow to think of as "cool", in most videogame leads are hate filled loners with stunning love interests who never lose no matter what and get to kick giant stone golems in half with super karate further cementing the "Loners are awesome and all the chicks want them and being social is for dorks and weaklings who get killed off near the end" way of thinking. (the last half of this argument also works with action movies wich depending on if you watch them alone or with people could further the "loners are cool" way of thinking)

Yeah i'm pretty much the definition of a loner, I spend the majority of my time alone and only really see my friends at college.

I like being on my own because being in the top 1% of the population for intellect means that most people aren't as good company for intellectual stimulation - I tend to get irritated if people don't know what I know or lack the mental capacity that I have. (Thanks, Asperger's Syndrome)

Thus, my social circle is extremely limited to a few select people. However, I can feign social interest should the situation occur; I would still dub myself a loner by proxy.

I'm only here when I'm not doing everything else and then some.

Internet is down time... which is kind of ironic considering how heated things are in general.

Actually this way of thinking probably comes from zombie movies. Seriously, my family has plans as to how we'll survive.

Eh, I'm not really a people person, anyway, but that's more inherant than because I'm a gamer. Most people are douchebags. Notice I say most; I know a lot of my fellow Escapists are people and for the most part you're all right.

I'm not big on parties; the music played is too recent and too shit, and I'm not that big a drinker, mostly because I lack the funds. So yeah, I guess I am.

I was a loner for a long time, but 5 months ago I literally stole a kiss from whom is now my girlfriend and we have been together since. I love her, and she loves me.

I don't classify myself as a loner. I'm not officially in a relationship, but I'm not the biggest loser in my class. I like my position. Not nessacarily popular, but not unlikeable. I definitely have options.

Loner? I guess, but only because I haven't anyone who can really captivate me with her charm. Friends will do nicely, for now.
