Can I say Light Yagami? It probably sounds stupid, but he doesn't abuse his power much, and he's certainly not afraid of cleaning things up, so to speak.
Its what happened in the first book is why i gotta say no to that. He killed a protector of the innocent for no other reason then he didn't want to be stopped. Meaning he would probably kill anyone who even suggests an opposite opinion of his. That's not being a dictator, that's being a tyrant.
He wouldn't kill at a mere suggestion. There were plenty of instances where people voiced their opposition to Kira and he didn't kill them. He only acts if an action is taken against him. It's less "I'm gonna kill you if you disagree with me" and more "I'm not going down without a fight".
He killed a news reporter for speaking out against him. Essentially using murder to crush his opposition. He was even planning on killing Misa simply because it would be more convenient to him. If it wasn't for her Shinigami she would have been left to the wolves or killed by Light.
Beep! that was not Light, but the other guy with the glasses. Mikami or whatever.

Not a politician, but some sort of political thinker/philosopher who has good moral priciples. but that said i would never ever want that to happen and i dont think that any of the people that i think would be fit to rule would ever become dictators, and they are all morally opposed to faschism so...

You'll have to forgive me, I haven't read the series in a couple years, I'm a bit rusty. When did he kill a reporter just for voicing opposition? I remember Misa doing that quite a bit, but Light openly disapproved of it. Like I said, though, my memory of the exact events isn't perfect.
Also, you have to keep in mind that Misa was pretty actively screwing things up for Light. Yeah, her eyes came in handy a bit, but she was leaving all sorts of evidence behind, and she did a lot of stuff that could have ruined Light if he wasn't smart enough to sort it out.

Mikami didn't try to kill Misa. Light did. He even talks about how expendable she is until Rem pipes in about how if she ever gets hurt he is a dead man. He also is willing to kill his followers if it means he is safe and is willing to place them in harms way for his own goals. These are not good qualities.

Edit: He killed a reporter speaking against him so he could threaten another news station into being his voice. He also murdered every single CIA officer when he could easily have cleared himself and not had to worry. In fact it says in the book that the Officer in question had closed the book on light and they were heading home. He also killed every single other officer on the look out for light just to keep himself safe. He even kills the agents wife. He could easily have talked her out of it by just ignoring her seeing how he was only suspicious because he kept trying to get her name.

Essentially he murders a lot of innocent people who he either could have just ignored and they would have had nothing on him.

Hell the whole situation started because he killed the L stand in. They had no evidence. They had no way to tell where or who he is really. They even said he was broadcasting all around the world (a lie) and if he jsut shrugged his shoulders and moved on L would have never been able ot find him. Every clue against him comes from Light being to prideful and being un-willing to not show L up. He kills to show his power, not because he feels trapped.

Ultimately light kills and murders innocent people to protect himself and to show off how powerful he is to L.

My wet dream would have to be a scientist who has some military know-how.

And perhaps some know-how on torture techniques.

Hmmm... Meh.

Lets just throw up Morgan Freeman, because with his wonderful voice anything is possible.
Then I vote for Don Lafontaine. If he was alive.

His voice is epic

An Andrew Ryan-esque political scientist/psychologist. A benevolent dictatorship would actually work quite well as a government system. The only problem is finding a person who could wield that kind of power only for the good of others...
As long as we avoid the whole addictive-super-mutating-drug-turns-everyone-into-monsters-causing-civil-war-and-the-downfall-of-society thing, I'm with you.

OT: I accidentally voted Fictional Character but I was going to other and then none. I'm not a fan on dictators and Facism, even if they have "good" intentions.

The only problem is he is kind of a dick. Reasonably. Maybe someone else who WOULDN'T flip out when Lind L. Taylor was on tv. That was Light's ultimate dumb move. That and trusting Mikami.

Then he'd just be a dick-tator. *badum-KSHHH*
But really, the whole Lind L. Taylor thing was less of a mistake on Light's part than it was a hasty conclusion on L's part, but I don't really feel like getting into that right now.

True. I love how this thread mutated into a Death Note discussion. xD

I voted "writer", but then I thought of Dictator Ayn Rand, and I'm frightened. Too late to change my vote, I guess...
