looked up the video on somewhere I didn't need to register to see it and that ad is in incredibly poor taste, but I guess I should expect as much from a group like PETA

It's stupid, for sure. PETA has never had a good advertising department.
You've watched it and you're talking about it, it's efficient! More than ...most ad we just don't care about.

I don't like this Video Either but it's really surprising how many people just read "PETA" and start insulting Vegeterians and Vegans. PETA is stupid, i agree but it is not the representation of all vegetarians.
It is just painfull to see how many people instantly start with their " I AM ON TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN" talk.
A really good one i think was this one

enviromentally damaging
...
really?
Well i just love how many people are trying to pretend their meat diet is better than a vegetarian diet.

I think PETA does do some things right, though advertising is not one. The biggest issue seems to be trying to appeal to the general public. If they put out an advert that said things about the terrible living conditions of veal calves, most of which never see the light of day, or how chickens are injected with growth hormones that cause their breasts to grow so large that they tip over and are unable to walk again, the YouTube comments would be filled with things like, "Mmmm...I'm having veal right now so delicious." or "Damn that video made me hungry. I'm going to go get some McNuggets." It seems that most non-vegetarians/vegans need to show how cool and badass they are because they eat meat. Find any forum thread or any video comments on the topic of vegetarianism/animal abuse, and it will be rife with these types of comments. That includes this thread as well.

Now, I'm a vegetarian (boo! hiss!, I know), and I will agree that a lot of vegetarians/vegans tend to have inflated egos about how they're saving the world and they're so much smarter than you. In other words, they're assholes. They're no different than the smug assholes who drive hybrids. I believe in their cause, I just think they're going about it the wrong way. It's just like religion really. It's fine to hold your own beliefs, but don't try to force them on people who aren't interested.

So back to PETA, they've tried shifting from a topic that everyone despises(vegetarian/veganism) and have moved towards something that everyone loves(sex!). The problem is that those two things don't really go together. It seems that PETA is just trying to get attention, albeit in a bad way. Perhaps if people could stop being dicks, and hear them out before making a decision for themselves, then perhaps we'd see these shitty ads go away.

What are your thoughts? Can PETA get away with stuff like this?
Since PETA are a bunch of raging hypocrites anyway, I generally ignore most anything they produce. However, this is offensive on so many levels - mostly the positive portrayal of violence against women.

I've got nothing against hot, rough sex. You know what - even full S&M doesn't require a neckbrace afterwards. That's not sexy - that abuse.

Anyway, the ad is unrealistic. Vegans aren't better in bed - they're too weak from lack of eating properly. If you want hot, awesome, rough sex, go with the guy (or girl) who's just eaten grilled chicken (high in protein, but not fat - no better source of sexy energy).

I know that's what I did for Valentine's Day. ^^

I find it amusing that PETA tells us to treat animals with respect and kindness, and then objectifies women in their advertisements.

It's more the cheap ploy of "being vegan makes you amazing at sex" then the violence. He didn't hit her they had an accident, although it was a misdirection. Sex can sell, but it also pisses off the sex your selling (see what I did there). Its one thing when you have ax body spray and it doesn't matter if you piss of women, pissing off lady vegans is just stupid. They completely miss their supporters as a whole.

Even though it's not about abuse really, it's still pretty tasteless. Wow, being vegan will make your sex better! Great! There's gotta be other ways to go about it than saying "You'll be able to fuck your girlfriend straight through the wall!"

It was a funny/sexy advertisement.

Most people are going to hate it because they hate peta, some will hate it because they hate humor and find sexuality demeaning or offensive.

I hate peta, and this ad did not change my mind on them, and it also did not convince me to go vegan, HOWEVER it did remind me of that time I gave up fast food and started eating healthier, and well I was a sex machine at the time because of my improved health. So, I am planning on now trying to lead a healthier lifestyle that will include more vegetables, but I will not become a vegetarian or a vegan.

I thought they were going somewhere else with that, like "Boyfriend was abusive, then he went Vegan and wasn't anymore"
That's kind of the message that I got first too. I know they love to slander anyone with a normal diet, but that would be overstepping what's allowed.

I know vegans love trying to pretend their unhealthy, expensive, time consuming, and environmentally damaging diet is somehow better than a normal diet, but this is just false advertising.
I remember this quote, I can't remember quite from who but she said, "So you are proud of being vegan, it's like saying you care more about the animals than the immigrants that pick your veggies" haha

The advert was mildly amusing, but nothing exceptional. I didn't really find it very offensive, but then I'll usually be quite tolerant for the sake of humour. It hasn't made me turn vegan yet though, so I can't call it too successful.

Anyone calling this "domestic abuse" can fuck right off. He didn't beat her up, they just had rough sex, which she clearly enjoyed. She's only in the neck brace because she accidentally hit her head on the wall during said enjoyable sex. Hell, she seems much happier about the whole thing then he is. Try looking at a little thing called "context" before jumping on the "Peta advocates domestic abuse" train. If you want to hate PETA, hate them for the stupid things they actually do. Don't just make shit up and jump to wild, overly-sensational conclusions just to make someone you disagree with look bad. That's PETA's job.
i'm going to go with this ^

its just in poor taste is all, which is an improvement given the other shit peta has pull

You want to know how we can be certain that I'm an awful person? The thing that bothered me the most in that video was that there was a "Please subscribe!" button.

You're kidding right? Practically every ad they make gets a thread on most major forums. They get news stories on gaming, movie, and various other news sites all the time. Countless tweets and shares. Etc, etc...

The ads put PETA in public consciousness, get people talking, and create awareness. They intentionally make controversial, inane, and ridiculous ads to achieve this effect.

Off the top of your head, how many other animal rights groups can you think of?
