This is a shitty ad for a lot of reasons but the one that stands out most for me is that it seems to be based on absolutely nothing. I've never in my life heard of a connection between veganity (?) and sexual prowess. I mean, that's not even subtext in Scott Pilgrim. It just isn't a thing.

It seems to me like PETA are scraping the bottom of the barrel for ways to appeal to people now. God help anyone of such impressionability that they're genuinely taken in by this.

This was funny.

It brings me joy to see PETA so desperate, and it also brings me joy to know that most of the world hates them. They already know that most of the world doesn't buy their shit (I'm not talking about animal activists, i'm talking about PETA specifically), so they have to go for the sex sells crap.

Aah PETA bread, what will you come up with next to alienate and entertain me further.

Stupid ad, but not "wrong" in my book. The boyfriend didn't hit the lady or anything, he just humped her good.

There's a joke in there somewhere, but they don't have the finesse to pull it off. The onus really should have been on the fact that the guy can last for longer (bullshit or not); making it look like a domestic abuse ad just makes it a little uncomfortable to begin with, and then it falls flat anyway.

You're kidding right? Practically every ad they make gets a thread on most major forums. They get news stories on gaming, movie, and various other news sites all the time. Countless tweets and shares. Etc, etc...

The ads put PETA in public consciousness, get people talking, and create awareness. They intentionally make controversial, inane, and ridiculous ads to achieve this effect.

Off the top of your head, how many other animal rights groups can you think of?

ALF.

That's it actually. Fair point.

That's all well and good but is the advertising effective in drawing people to their cause? No. The point of advertising is to sell a product or idea, and PETA doesn't do much of that so much as make people care less.

No, because the amount of stupid in that ad is awe-inspiring. I would never expect them to go, as yahtzee would say, pants-on-the-head retarded.

PETA only does this because it gets them publicity, much like what you are giving them right now.

If you stop feeding their attention getting ways, they will go away.

To quote Stinkmeiner, this video's some old bullshit.

PETA being its attention-grabbing self. Woohoo, stop the presses! Still, the points the ad raises are stupid enough that I can perfectly see how people who can't seen to get their freak on or to get laid could conceivably start thinking "Who knows, maybe this is true! Maybe subsisting on kale and spinach juice with tomatoes and tofu actually WILL turn me into a towering man-stud!"

And every time this happens, even temporarily, in the depths of someone's brain, PETA wins and makes actual, informed and lucid vegans cry in absolute shame.

I think I found a good Kobold or Hobgoblin name for my D&D campaign...

I'd have to disagree. Because of their advertising their name is the first most people think of when it comes to animal rights, as a result, if someone is inspired to donate to such a charity, odds are they'll go with PETA simply because it's become such a household name.

That aside, if their crazy ad campaigns get you to visit their website, be it to play whatever silly (and terrible) game parody they make or whatever, you'll be bombarded by pictures of cute animals or horrific scenes that beg to be clicked. Click on them and they'll show you a video of a slaughter house or some such thing, this is where they attempt to sell the idea.

For charities the most important thing is having a well known name, sadly most people don't do a whole lot of research before donating.

Do PETA actually do anything to help, or do they just complain?
They do. They often send undercover workers into labs that inhumanely test on animals, or pet stores that abuse their animals. I saw a video from them where they sent a worker into a lab that tested bug repellant by shaving a rabbit's back, turning it over, and setting it on top of a tank filled with thousands of mosquitoes. That same lab also removed teeth from dogs with pliers and no sedatives or pain meds. PETA is the reason why that lab was closed down.

Laugh all you want at people's cries to stop animal abuse, but remember, places like this torture, no I'm not exaggerating for dramatic effect, cats, dogs, and other types of animals that you probably have at home and love.

That's not right, but they're attention whores.

To PETA about their other ad campaigns: NO amount of nudity will stop me from eating meat. PERIOD.

Ah PETA, where it's perfectly okay to hurt, abuse, use and demean women, but not animals.

...I'm not sure where I was going with that, but I feel angry now.

Aww ninjaed. The ad itself is terrible.

Also being vegan doesn't do that.

I don't find it offensive because it displays some form of violence towards women. I find it offensive because it is just BAD.
So what? Becoming Vegan INSTANTLY grows your dick to Dr Manhattan levels? Sure and eating steak and bacon everyday turns you into this guy:

and given those options, I'll go with Saxton Hale. For a small reason that I'm sure being Vegan doesn't give you all the other benefits of Dr Manhattan (unless I'm in the Scott Pilgrim universe), mostly because I adore bacon, steak and lamb and could not see life without it and partially because if I went Vegan I know that Saxton Hale will come out my computer screen and break my windows...with my spine.
