you could collect a lot of info even if you were only visiting each planet for half a second, such as that it is possible to go to other worlds in a persons life time, that there is or isnt life on other planets, and what planets are close enough to colonize.

1 million think about it, put it in a 10% interest account and thats a guarenteed $100,000 per year, plus your wage that you are earning. So i would have to say the million

I would take the $2500, because if when I do get a job, I will enough money to get an average house, car, and never have to worry about money, because if I loose my job, I still make money every month :) FTW!!!!!

Never need to sleep.

With that much time on your hands there is no way you could ever actually be bad at something (unless you intend to waste time fucking around). Therefore, with intense practice, you could end up not only being a master of many things but probably rolling in money.

I choose never needing sleep, I would have way more free time, and I wouldn't have to wash sheets. Ever. I hate washing sheets...

My choice was too never need to sleep, that way i could have much more holidays and never be rushed to finish an assignment cause i would do them whenever boredom took over. Though what would happen if you needed surgery, they couldn't knock you out. Does it mean you never get tired i.e. run forever, or you get tired but you don't need to sleep to become awake again?

I'm going with never have to sleep.

1. You don't have to sleep.
2. You can have your life longer
3. You can have more fun.

That's why I picked that.

I'm going to start off by first tossing out the (1)aging, (2)sleep, and (3)free ride options because (1)a possible additional ten years of life isn't substantial to me if I'm going to be spending it as I do life now, (2)I love sleep and would never give it up, and (3)the idea of free travel is only appealing if I were to become some magical hobo that did like...miracles and stuff.

The galactic tour would be a viable option if the terms were altered. Going around the galaxy in one month is a ridiculous notion seeing as how the Milky Way is (last I checked) thought to be 100,000 light-years across. Just to get to the other side and back (read: straight line) in a month would mean you'd have to travel ~6000 light-years in a day. Definitely not enough time to do anything useful unless I liked watching to stars flash by from a distance...and let's not even start on the effects of time and faster-than-light travel [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.124739]. If this were to be, say, that I was given a starship to travel the galaxy at will, on my time, I'd be all for it. I'd have it look like the Millennium Falcon and dress as Han Solo as I made insane amounts of money carting scientists and tourists around the galaxy...assuming the world's governments don't try to confiscate my craft as soon as I land. Those greedy bastards. :(

So, until this poll lets me live my dream of being a galactic tour guide, I'm going with the money. Seeing as how the choices can be equated to winning a lottery and choosing an annuity or a lump sum, I'll take the lump sum. Assuming '1 million dollars' means ~$1,000,000USD after joining the 35% tax bracket and paying those taxes, I could easily take 1/10th of that to spend on my current needs/wants and use the rest to make more money and ensure my financial survival in case the Dollar ends up dead sometime soon.

$2.500 a month sounds like a smart thing to pick, but over time, the effects of that would diminish through inflation, right? my parents always whinge about what they used to be able to buy with $2. so within 10 years, the 2.500 would go from buying most the essentials to buying a pack of gum

i think not aging 10 years is awesome... the effects last longer too... so when im 30, ill look like im 20. itd be crappy having to whip out the drivers license at every bar though

The interest of the 1mil (depending on rates of course) would most probly be better then the 2.5k every month so 1mil!

i have to say the 1 million.
as long as it wasn't taxed.
i like to sleep and i'd still have to work with the 2500 choice.
space doesn't interest me that much and i'm aging slow enough already.

Sleep is brilliant, that amazing feeling when you just wake up naturally, and for a little while and you're at peace.

The aging thing, when would I get to use it? I'd want to hold onto it for a few years till after school, also I rekon it would affect my relationships, they get older I stay the same and so on.

1 million runs out quickly when you have it so I'd go for the monthly payments as it's convinient.

The $2500 a month-adds up to an extra million after about 33 years, so that would give me an extra couple of million in my lifetime :D

Is this like a kind of trick question, where people take the 2.5k per month thinking they're being wise and sustainable, but not realising that 1 million will net them more money under all circumstances?

Even if one spent 2.5k per month the interest they got would still give them more money than they started with.
