It isn't. Somewhere out there they do that as part of some sort of weird religious practice. This is actually a pretty mild one. Once saw a guy with five three-foot sticks jammed in his face. *cringe*

I myself got an eyebrow piercing for my 18th birthday (I'm 22 now), which didn't go too well. The n00b piercing chick didn't take into account the eventual swelling, so she inserted a stud that fitted neatly the moment I got it. But when it started swelling the top half kind of disappeared into my flesh, and it started to get infected so I had to take it out. Since then I've been against piercings on my own person.

Still wouldn't mind dating a girl with a pierced nip though. ^.^

I'm a girl and I've got two piercings in my bottom lip, 2 in each ear, and two tattoos (mario mushrooms on my hips ;]) and I love them all, like I'm so glad I got them. I think my parents disapprove slightly, but only because I'll always have the scars from my lip piercings, and my tattoos will ALWAYS be there.

That's awesome. If I were to get a tattoo it would have to do with Mario somehow. Probably not gonna happen though.

Anyway, I love piercings. They are an art form, a medium for people to express themselves. Most people I know with a lot of piercings have a story behind each one and I love to hear these stories.

I currently do not have any piercings, but I do not mind seeing them on other people. I do plan on getting at least my ears pierced.

Oh cheers hun, but its cool! Twas about 4 year ago now so all water under the bridge for me. So you like piecings too, can only see the side of your face from your pic but what about the side of your lip or a marilyn?

For ages I wanted spider bites, but I'm reconsidering those. I might get one to the lower right of my lip, but that'd be the extent of it there. That, nose and corner of eyebrow. Might even be a double for the last.

I have my eyebrows, ear (top) and foreskin done. None hurt to be honest, the foreskin may be taken out though, most women actually dont like it for those of you who thought otherwise My eyebrows will stay pierced whatever, 6 years and counting...

Currently, I have three in each ear,One right eyebrow, one areola, last one is on my belly button.

The next thing I want is to get full color tattoo of angel wings covering my back. But have to save up for that.

I consider piercings, tattoos and scarification to be artforms in their own rights. In fact I'd like to be a body mod artist at some point. I think it'd be fun.

Same on that viewpoint, Always wanted to get professional scaring myself in the future for a artistic stand point.

People who get piercings get them for personal reasons, Not to try and look better for random people.

They are not my thing, and I have never really found them attractive. The thing I don't like about them is that sometimes they are just too much, like an overload of metal on skin, sometimes it actually looks like the persons body has been turned into a torture chamber. But, with that said I have seen piercings that I like, I think my taste is changing as I get older.

I did however see one the other day that made me literally double take. I was at the local IGA (supermarket) And I saw a chick stocking up some stuff in the fridge and she had these 6 metal studs in her arm. I had to stop and ask her about it. Any way that's my opinion and an anecdote for all to appreciate.

I often hate them. One of my pet hates is when girls have peircings in..unexpected places and don't bother warning me, it can be a bit of a shock to suddenlly find something so solid.

A lot of the time they look good, however with the ones that look good I don't really pay attention to them, the ones that look bad or out of place are the ones I tend to remember. Those ear stetching ones are somewhat uncool (since I've seen someone take one out), as are all large facial peircings (I don't mind them as a feature, but seriously, your face shouldn't be mostly metal from a single peircing).

Yeah anyway, it's really not likely that I'd bother getting peircings.
