No, but it left an impact. The characters were very easy to relate to in their nature and lives. I think telling stories with music and images often shows power of cinema.

The little girl is sent out to sell matches in the winter. She cannot return until they are sold. No one buys the matches, she dreams of happiness, but dies cold and alone in the snow. Spirit of her dead grandmother appears to take her away in death.
