Actually, there's quite alot you missed out on. My advice is go back and play Diablo.tharwen said:I've only played Diablo 2, and I don't feel I've missed out on any important parts of the storyline. Since Blizzard basically killed off the hero of the first game in preparation for the second, there aren't many ties to it.
Play Diablo first. Despite what the above guy said, there's actually quite alot oyu miss out on. Also, you HAVE to fight the butcher, that fight was just awesome, and his little abbattoir brings back memories.Thaius said:Being a proud Mac owner, I have spent most of my gaming life missing out on all the joys PC gaming has to offer. I was not happy with this, but I see Windows as a broken, unintuitive, and ugly OS compared to the smooth experience that is OSX, so I wasn't about to buy a non-Mac computer. But having recently put Windows XP onto my Macbook, I have the opportunity to catch up on all the things I've missed over the years.
My cousin has let me borrow Diablo and Diablo II, and he is saying I should play them both in order. But my roommates are saying that I should just skip it and go on to Diablo II. I play games primarily as a storytelling art, ad form of literature, so part of me is saying to play through the first before tackling the second. On the other hand, I've heard the sequel is worlds better in every regard, and the story of the first is very simple and easy to catch up on.
So what does the Escapist think of this? Should I play through Diablo before playing Diablo II, or should I just move on? Or should I just raise my flame shield for my choice of OS?
If you want to recommend and good PC games while you're at it, feel free.
Upgrade to XP or Windows 7.Castratikron said:I've been trying to play Diablo 2, but i can't seem to get it to cooperate with vista, any advice?
Hardest? More like scariest! I was totally clueless that there was a boss in that room. When I opened the door I didn't play the game for another week...focking Butcher.Headless Zombie said:Hardest. Sub-boss. Ever.Flos said:MAC USER HOW DA-
Go with Diablo first, then Diablo 2.
If anything, you'll be able to notice the steep difficulty curve Diablo 1 had in comparison to Diablo 2. You'll also be able to get a few of the references Diablo II makes to the original.
AH, FRESH MEAT.

And hardest, lol. I can't kill the freaking thing! And it seems that all the enemies I've killed don't respawn or anything, so I can't go around leveling up. So I have to rely on skill rather than being powerful enough, but the "click on something until it dies" formula doesn't really allow for that too much...oliveira8 said:Hardest? More like scariest! Planning on Half-Life, since I tried playing 2 and just got confused. Deus Ex I've heard is good, and Quake... I might try it out, but to my knowledge it has no story, which is the main reason I play games. Quake is only multiplayer, right?300lb.
