Diablo one's story is fairly nonexistent so missing out on it will not ruin it much. Besides most of the players on battle net have no idea what Dialbo 2's story is besides kill stuff, get loot.
Get the Battle Chest. They still sell them at Walmart. It includes both games, as well as guides if you get stuck.Thaius said:Snip.
I've already borrowed both from my cousin, actually. I don't have the expansion for the first one, but I have the expansion for Diablo II. I was thinking of buying the Battle Chest, but it was $40, and I'm a poor college student. That $40 is a lot at the moment...scotth266 said:Get the Battle Chest. They still sell them at Walmart. Thataways you can try both.
I doubt switching OS is necessary. I've run, e.g., Starcraft (two years older than D2) on Vista without issue. For older games like these, you might want to go find the .exe and set one or more of the compatibility flags, though. (Right-click > Properties > Compatibility.) E.g., looks like I have Starcraft set for "Run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2", "Disable visual themes", and "Disable desktop composition." If anything, it appears to run better on my Vista box than on my friends' XP boxes (they all chronically lose connection to Battle.net).Abedeus said:Upgrade to XP or Windows 7.Castratikron said:I've been trying to play Diablo 2, but i can't seem to get it to cooperate with vista, any advice?
Also, you should play Diablo. Even if you won't like it. Then play Diablo 2. In my opinion, it's a lot better. But wait before playing online till 1.13. People don't have energy to play the game for now, because they told us they would reset the ladder in April. It's almost November and still nothing...
Yes, this!Avykins said:You should play Diablo and skip Diablo 2.
Diablo is a dark, interesting and compelling game. D2 is a gaudy, generic piece of trash that comes nowhere near to capturing the atmosphere of the first.
