So I was playing Call of Duty (MW2) with my family today, and I remembered why I hate playing with them.

First, my husband and his younger brother argued over which type of match it would be (free-for-all, or whatever)for long enough for me to finish eating my dinner. When that was settled, we played two matches. TWO. Which my team lost the second one (me/husband) my husband spent about 15 minutes ranting how there was a physics glitch, because his grenades didn't kill anyone, blah blah... then, when we all told him to just drop it - he got pissed that we weren't listening. I just got up and walked away.

Seriously, this happens every time we play anything together. It drives me nuts, but then everyone complains and calls me a stick in the mud for not wanting to join them. Blah!! This is why I like single player games!!

Does anyone else go through this? =|

No because I play on a dead gaming platform. (PC)
But when I used to play splitscreen against my brother on the Xbox it was quite entertaining, despite the 4 year skill difference.

Playing with friends and family is much more fun, even when it ends up with a free for all no matter if its co op or not... good times good times...

Considering I am a RPG fan, it is quite infrequent I play multi-player games, albeit when I use to play Halo for periods of time frankly not deemed healthy, it was with my cousin and we often had a blast. Beyond him I have never played with another person consistently, thus I cannot accurate judge although I suspect if they were the type to complain, swear and whine about any slight annoyance... I would loathe them.

I prefer to play alone or online with people I don't know for one simple reason: There will be times when it is necessary for one's mental health to rage quit. Doing so in front of people who's oppinion of you matters is what many experts refer to as "social suicide"

Then again this is only when I'm being serious, the fine people with whom I play on Xbox Live are very intolerant of immaturity considering they seem to be made up primarily of prepubescent boys.

Playing with friends is fun when I want to play a multiplayer game. Most of my time gaming is spent with single player games. I don't play multiplayer as much because of all the immature people you meet on the internet.

If theres one game i'd play with a friend at my place it would have to be Resident Evil 5 because its just fun that way. Maybe just maybe if AVP had some respect to put in a mission co-op feature which would have boosted replayabilty but apparently Rebellion doesn't like to strain the brain.

I really enjoy playing with other people present in the room, but I just don't find online gaming fun. The vast majority of my gaming is singleplayer.

I love playing with friends, even though I usually school them (going easy on people in a game is easier said then done). Split-screen is especially good for co-op games where communication is better face-to-face. I also love jokingly swearing and yelling abuse at people when they kill me in MW2.

Of course, sometimes my friends try to pass off my victories as the result of screen-peeking, even though they are the worst screen-peekers or all time, sneaking up behind them in split-screen is impossible.

Really depends what mood I'm in at the time, but 75% of the time I'd rather play with a few close friends online. The rest of the time I like to curl up with a nice single player RPG, or mute everyone in an online lobby and go it alone.

I would rather play with friends. Family... not so much. I suppose if there's a splitscreen racing game or a WW2 shooter I'd play it with my dad (effectively the only games he ever touches).

I find it a more relaxed environment to play with friends because if you lose to them, it's a more relaxed environment. No trash-talking or insults etc.

Example of fair play by my brothers

I shoot them, they walk over and punch me. I put them in a hold. Pardon me for preferring friends.

I like to play with other people either in the same room/house or on the Internet. Currently only playing 2 games:

LOTRO - With people on the Internet
Trackmania - Either with the wife/kids on the LAN or on the Internet

I played standalone games many years but having other 'real' people around is much more fun regardless of whether they are close at hand or the other side of the world.

Eh I like to play alone but also play online with friends. Enjoy my single player much more than multiplayer though, i'm of the belief that you don't NEED multiplayer to make a successful game.

I generally play alone, but often also enjoy inviting friends over and playing in the same room.

I prefer playing games on my own, but I frequently play with other people online, so that's definitely a close second.
