Poll: Pokemon MMO

Earlier today I was thinking about playing some Pokemon. After a little while I started thinking about how many Pokemon there are and about how the developers must be running out of ideas for new Pokemon. I then started to consider the idea of a Pokemon MMO.

A few things I thought the game could feature are;

1. Daily quests to get the really rare Pokemon.
2. PvP against other players' Pokemon. (Obviously)
3. Group questing with other players.
4. Seasonal events in-game similar to those in WoW/Guild Wars.

After thinking about this idea for awhile, I started to get really excited about how cool the whole concept sounds. I also thought that it would be a really good money maker for the developer.

So, what do you guys think? Would you like to see a Pokemon MMO go into development?

I would like a pokemon mmorpg . Being capable of catching every pokemon , govong them the same base stats / move pools as in the games , and being able to play against other players at will . End game would probably be a variation of the battle tower . The world would consist ove every pokemon game to date . Red blue yellow lvl 1-20 , silver and gold leven 20-40 , sapphire and ruby( lvl 40-60) , diamondand pearl ( lvl 60-80) , black and white , (lvl 80-100), then the battle tower for lvl 100 only .

You could battle anyone ( with consent of course ) , and legendaries would be used in pvp battles only of agreed beforehand ( to prevent everyone using them against people who don't use legendaries). There would be berries and hand held items like in the games .


Oh i forgot to mention , you could level any pokemon to 100 , the levels i started earlier are just for the pokemon in that zone , if you want to level your rattata to 100 go for it.

I like this Idea and would put all my money behind it if it were made. Or at least most of my money.

I like the idea but for future reference:

A. the Developers are not running out of ideas. Even I can think of a pokemon that they haven't done yet. A Toucan! name it Talkan or Speakan and make it an evolution from Chatot.

B. There must be a good way to balance it, other wise we will have ALOT of Excadrill running around with Sandstorms to go with them.

Liking this idea. But I don't know whether its a good thing or a bad thing that the guys who work on the games are probably going to stick with what's familiar for a while longer.

The only problem is that it would be impossible to have any other battle system outside the turn based combat that pokemon is based on. Anything else would be ludicrously hard to balance.
And considering how money whorish Pokemon is with pretty much releasing the same game three times over each generation, they would probably shove micro transactions for pokemon in every facet.

In all honesty I'd rather they do a 3D open world game on modern Console and PC before they attempt an MMO.

I'd hate to see it fall into the MMO craze where people with way too much time on their hands end up surpassing me in the game, and then it becomes less fun to play.

But then again, having scheduled tournaments would be pretty nifty.

I'd love a Pokemon MMO. It would be the only MMO I would honestly enjoy.

Though let's be realistic, Game Freak will probably never make one and if they do, you'd probably have to pay for the chance to catch Legendaries. Still, one can hope

It's an idea that definitely has merit. I would definitely consider getting some friends together and playing if/when I get a better laptop. Also, would people be able to join the various crime syndicates, or would they all be NPCs?

I'd have to say yes. I'd love to be able to battle Pokemon with someone other than Joey and his Rattata in the top percentage of Rattata. If the continents could be divided as play areas it would be perfect. My ass would never be leaving Johto!

Blizzard beat you to it. They are adding a pet combat thing in the next expansion, and that's basically Pokemon but with the wow critters.

I was thinking about a Pokémon MMO a while back. For legendary creatures I thought players could capture them, but they'd only be able to use them for a set amount of time, after which the Pokémon would return to the wild. The previous owner's name would still be associated with the Pokémon, so everyone could see who all the previous owners were.

To be honest, I'd rather they make a Pokemon game for the 3DS with battles in the style of stadium, but still having the walking-around adventure style of normal Pokemon games. That, or make it with an over-the shoulder movement similar to Gale of Darkness. I can't say I'm very interested in it going MMO, as I see Pokemon as a solo experience. I tried going online once. I immediately got destroyed by someone running a team full of ubers. I hope that doesn't happen in this hypothetical MMO.
