Poll: Pokemon Vs Digimon

Well, now that I've done that call to arms on the group, I make my vote.

Digimon. The series kicks its ass by far (Especially Tamers. Pokémon anime can only dream to be like Tamers and Adventure.) and Digimon World is one of my favourite games of all time.

Sure the Pokémon games are great, but they haven't been moving in terms of the actual game much, which is really what it needs. It's getting to the point I just feel like I'm getting a reskinned and slightly better looking version of the same game every time I buy one. Black and White changed a few things, so that's a step in the right direction, though a baby step.

Can't judge it on the Manga, since I haven't even read the Digimon Manga all the way, or the Pokémon manga, so yeah, nothing to judge there.

So, Digimon wins in my view.

Pokemon up to the Orange League, pretty much until 2nd Gen stuff, was great. the first series of Digimon was good but when it went the whole world-wide plot i lost interest. in general, Pokemon is better than Digimon

Digimon was better in my opinion. For one, the digimon actually played a decent part in the story that went beyond just being either tools for fighting of interesting designs to look at. Face it, did any pokemon other then pikachu really matter all that much in the end? It's the same as comparing the two games. In digimon, there was a focus on one partner for each character and both the digimon and the character grew together. Pokemon was all about trapping things in balls then storing them forever for no real reason other then having them.

I watched more Pokémon than Digimon since I didn't know the timetable for Digimon.

As far as the shows go, Digimon curbstomps Pokemon and spits on it's body. It actually had a story arc, for one and I think it actually made me cry twice. Sure I was young at the time, but the reason was something mature enough that it could probably still work.

EDIT: As I recall it was that one of the characters was really neurotic about his little sister getting into danger. This was explained in a flashback that showed the sister collapsing for some medical reason I can't remember, and the big brother (Tai, I think it was) blamed himself for this.

And that's why it's better than Pokemon.

I didn't care about the TV shows, although I did have some DVD's of Digimon... and enjoyed it quite a bit...
But really, it's in the games it lies for me and the only Digimon game I had was Digimon Rumble Arena 2, and even though it was awesome, I enjoyed the Pokemon games more and I liked the design of the Pokemon more than the Digimon.

Also I suspect Pokemon is the mainstream choice since when I write Digimon here I get a red, wriggly "you spelled it wrong" line under it, but I don't when I write Pokemon...

The Digimon TV series was so much better that it's not even funny. Though if we're talking theme songs the Pokémon one can hold its own in a fight.

This thread has been done so many times, you don't even know. My answer is always the same, regardless. Digimon has a much better anime, while the Pokemon games have a much more approachable style to them. That doesn't mean the Digimon games are bad per-say, just easier to get into. The Pokemon anime on the other hand, was never good in my eyes.

I really can't choose. Your poll doesn't let me. If I were forced to however, I would choose Digimon, merely for the cool factor. For some reason, it is easier to keep track of the amount of Digimon as well as the stories rather than the amount of Pokemon there are. It doesn't make much sense when one says it, but that's just the way I see it.

I choose Digimon. It's much more mature, in a manner of speaking. Nothing else to it than that.

I watched both when I was younger but Pokemon was my favourite.
That said, I'm currently re-watching the Digimon series so I'll have to get back to you.

Digimon had a more serious storyline. They also looked a lot cooler and some choices had actual consequences.

I liked the show Digimon more than Pokemon. Not sure about the games though.

Pokemon has better games and Marketing, Digimon is better at everything else, ESPECIALLY the monster designs and anime.

I DARE anyone to find a pokemon cooler than that.

Though I admit pokemon's theme song KICKS digimon's ass.

Digimon because it had the best villain.

I've always wanted the Digital World to be real.

I've never wanted to live in the Pokéworld.

Digimon. There is no contest. The characters are better. The character designs are better. The plots are better. The general level of awesomeness is better. The movies are better. (Our War Game shoots every Pokémon film out of the water all on its own.) The dub is better. I'd go as far to say that even the games are better. At the very least, they have a lot more variety. The virtual pets were awesome. I'm still trying to find a good deal on a Japanese D3. (The Japanese models were always a lot better for some reason.)

I loved Digimon more because it didn't overstay its welcome, unlike Pokemon, which is still going on now...That and Digimon aged their characters, where as Ash lives in pre-pubescent hell.

Hahahahaha. Very true. Imagine if Ash was stuck as like a 14 year old? Puberty is far less fun than I would have expected, where you never quite a man, but too much of a man to retain the innocence you once had.

Pokemon, without a doubt. Digimon always just felt like a cheap knock off to me.

FACT: Digimon was originally a line of virtual pet toys made by Bandai in the late '80s
in response to little boys who didn't like Tamagotchi, thus predating Pokemon.
