yea pokemon had better games but digimon was obviously the better series and screw pokemon i trained my pikachu till like level 100 and it still couldnt electrocute a level 5 geodude. At least if u tried to play the games and watch show u wouldnt be hit with the convoluted pikachu can kill anything. And shouldnt pikachu be like level 100000 by now. and what happens to his old pokemon he dumps them after he decides he wants to go somewhere else. I could rant for hours about why that show is bad. And isnt the number 1 rule u cant attack people with ur pokemon poor team rocket.......................

I've always loved both series.

If we're talking about the anime's and not the games by vote goes for Digimon, I'd like to say Pokemon but after the second generation it went to hell, haven't watched a Digimon episode for years, stopped watching around the third generation, but when I think about it, Digimon had a better plot and characters.

Sorry Pokemon.

Though the powerful forces of Nostalgia has caused me to cherish both immensely...except the current version of Pokemon. Stopped after Diamond and Pearl:Galactic Battles...barely made it through that, I dare not watch the current one. Oh and that one series where the digimon were on the police force or something. Now that we've gotten the horrors of both series have been dismissed, I must say....Digimon.

Better plot, better characters,...it was just better.

Pokemon was great an all, especially the first 5 generations. A.K.A every generation with Misty. The equation was simple but it worked. Walk around a bit, help some random people, blow up Team Rocket, go to a gym, blow up Team Rocket, catch a new Pokemon, blow up Team Rocket, RUN INTO THAT SMUG ASS GARY FUCKING OAK RIDING IN A CORVETTE WITH CHEERLEADERS, blow up Team Rocket, throw in some sappy stuff, repeat. Not the best system, but depending on how they worked it, pretty entertaining...then again I was like 4 when I started watching it soooo....

But still, Digimon. I don't know, I just thought the overall story was better than Pokemon's because...well, it actually had a story. People were actually in danger, the characters had a bit more depth, and it was honestly more mature. Pokemon was just fun, Digimon was work.

Edit: But Pokemon did have some pretty good music!

And hey, can we give these old fucks some honorable mentions?

I loved Digimon more because it didn't overstay its welcome, unlike Pokemon, which is still going on now...That and Digimon aged their characters, where as Ash lives in pre-pubescent hell.
That and Digimon tried something new every season. It didn't always work, but at least it wasn't the same damn thing 10 years down the road.

While Digimon was undoubtably the better show, I still voted for Pokemon for nostalgia's sake. I watched the hell out of the Pokemon show and movies as a kid, and I never really got in to Digimon.

Never cared for the Pokemon anime, adored the games.
Never played Digimon games, adored the anime (especially Frontiers, one of my favorite TV shows ever

I guess I cast my vote for Digimon, even though I ONLY know anything about it through Frontiers.

However, Pokemon remain the better games simply out of the fact that I've never laid my hands on a Digimon game.

I've watched the Pokemon Anime, every episode between the first and most recent one. It's quite obvious that the anime is just ridiculously bad. It's always been incredibly cheesy and childish. Even episodes like Pikachu's Goodbye are rife with NARM. No meaningful character development either, and the exact same plot per episode.
Really is a shame, with the start of Pokemon Black and White/Best Wishes, it showed a hint of development, perhaps with an actual story arc and Team Rocket being competent villains.

Nope.

Even just watching Frontiers has shown me that Digimon has FAR superior... everything, really.

Digimon all the way.
Pokemon has the better games, no contest.
Digimon has a gainax-esque deconstruction/reconstruction of the mons genre, super sentai, and a damn good world building first two seasons. Having not seen Xros Wars or Savers I can't comment on them but I'm pretty sure they actually have an overarching plot.

Pokemon, To me Digimon seemed to try and do too many things at once and kinda failed at it, Yes the Pokemon show is shit and i highly doubt Digimon is any better.

I always like Digimon better, it just seemed to have a better story, and more character arcs, rather than just Team Rocket tries to steal Pikachu, and fails. There was more variety with the Digimon series than the Pokemon series.

to put it bluntly digimon had more freedom because one digimon can change any which way and then if you need to take a step back if you dont like the form its in. the only way to do this is to catch another on and if its something you like you have to hold out and have it to lose out on moves that only the older version it can get. DIGITAL REVOLUTION ALL THE WAY BITCHES!

Please, before joining a discussion, at the very least get your facts right.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Digimon were introduced in the 1980s. The first Pokemon game came out in 1996.

Digimon came first. Pokemon just proved to be more internationally popular, leading to the gross misconception that Digimon is a ripoff.

Don't forget that Digimon is still incredibly popular on its own merits.

I don't know how many other people agree with me, but when I watched it I liked series 4 of Digimon. I did watch the first series and a little bit of both 2 and 3, but I never watched them to the extent of 1 and 4. As for Pokemon, I used to like it up through the Gold and Silver League (can't remember which area) and it really bothers me that the character actually seem to sound younger than they used to.

OP: My vote goes to Digimon even though I think I watched it less.

The biggest problem people seem to have with the Pokemon show is that nothing ever changes, but for a show aimed at 7-10 year olds thats exactly what you need. It sets out to give kids an entertaining 1/2hr with a fun story and entertaining fights and it succeeds on all levels.

Digimon on the other hand sets out to be more complex for an older age-range (10-13) with a more complex ongoing plot and character arcs and like Pokemon, it succeeds. Because of these elements, it doesn't feel as childish when you rewatch it.

In answer to the thread question, I like both equally for different easons, but I have fonder memories of Digimon so it wins out. The best memory is having to stop watching the Movie on TV when I was 17 to go over to a mates only to find him sat watching it.

i just realised, wow i forgot that you have to point out to the masses that target audience needs pointing out. im always stupid and work on the asumption that people take into consideration when judging... but yeah your right plinglebob to bring it up to remind me that people don't on mass like i try to.
