The only talking that I do while gaming is swearing profusely at certain moments. That, and if I encounter a glitch.

I don't think it counts if I'm talking to my other computers.

Yes, they're voice operated. What did you think I meant?

What?!
Seems like I'm in the vast minority though, so I guess it's perfectly normal that people talk to themselves.

Had a friend who read all the dialogue boxes out loud while playing. Was really annoying.

I narrate my games. Things like "Ok I'm gonna go in this room, walking in OH BAM BAM BAM! Didn't expect that you scumbag!"

Stuff like that.

I usually talk to my self. Sometimes to boost my ego, sometimes to keep me sane.

Yea I do, I don't tend to say much though, just "yes" "no" "fuck" "come on" "woop" things like that.

Yes. Nearly all the time, mostly in action RPG's and some FPS's. I just talk, as if the characters were having a conversation with each other... its quite entertaining.

I usually only talk to myself while playing sports games and it usually me saying things along the lines of "Why did I do that?" or "I'm an idiot for making that pass." Basically I only talk to myself when I screw up or when I am in a tight game and close to getting the game winning score in whatever sports game it is.

If by "to myself" you mean everyone in the games then yes.
I remember i had one of the most exquisitely inspiring conversations with a monster from Amnesia.
It went something like this.
"OH FU*&! OH SH!T! ITS COMING! OH FU*%! FU+&! FU&^! HOLY SH!T! OH MY GOD! I THINK I JUST GOT A HEART ATTACK!"

And in every game that i can fight back i always say something stupid that sounds cool in my head for about a millisecond.
"Unlimited Blade Works Bi%&#! I hate Cazadors."

I think I'll go with most of the time because, as usual, it depends on my surroundings and what game I'm playing.

If it's a horror game, then I'll definitely keep a string of nervous sentences flowing just to make sure that I don't get too creeped out... I talk as a response to fear, though most of it comes out more or less as a garbled explanation on how the bad guys should just turn around and go home because I'm not worth bothering.

Of course, as with most other gamers, I'll also release torrents of cursing when something kicks my ass enough times or I feel that the game's being "unfair" to me. If I play a protagonist that doesn't talk or has lines made for them (Like Dragon Age Origins), I'll often voice act for them (purely because that's what I want to do) and if it's a silent hero otherwise, I'll often try to crack jokes.

I find myself "talking" more or less to my video games or characters if there's someone else in the room in an attempt to make someone laugh with my cheesy dialogue or ranting monologues about how I find it amusing that the characters will do something.

I think one reason why I talk so much is because I long to make a "Let's Play", so everything I do until I actually make one is something close to practice.

I'm surprised how many people answered yes. I don't quite understand this habbit. And no, if there's no one there to listen to me I don't talk. I may sing though.
