Ezio. Why? Personality.

Not because it's great, which it is, but the fact that he actually has some.

Ezio has feelings, a personal background, the what I like to call Stab you in the nuts while you are walking on a rooftop and then throw you off technique, and he isn't some kind of dog that gets constantly pushed around by the guy he worships.

I have to go with Altair. Ezio is cool and fun to play as, but Altair started the whole thing and by the events in the second game, he is made out to be a god among assassins.

Well Altair is a definately my favourite in the end because although awesome Ezio needs Altair, and if I'm going all philosophicalised, a dependant being cannot be greater than that that it depends on.

lets make a list :)

Altair:
~Original badass
~Made Ezio's weapons possible (codex)
~Has a bloody shrine!!
~Better name (when spoken, Ezio reads like a robot name so wins on the visual side)

Ezio:
~Badass 2.0
~Cool Weps
~Has a whole town/city state with it's own brothel
~see Altair point 4

hmmmmm =\ Ezio does have a pretty cool version of Altair's armour, I don't know where to put this

mind you Ezio can swim, and even his attacks with stuff like 'Sword of Altair' are badass.... go Ezio you Italian Robot Pimp

I liked Ezio, I really did. But he goes around interupting assassination missions to sleep with random girls and makes clever little witty remarks while trying to kill people. Altair was the real, impersonal assassin, and Ezio was just a (very skilled) imitation.

Ezio has a better personality, and an actual backstory. I suppose that's not Altairs fault though...

Ezio is sort of a pansy complainer. I mean, they tried to make him into a womanizer but failed completely.

Altair might not have much character development, but he is at least badass.

Altair. He's a murderous misanthrope who questioned religion BEFORE it was cool. Plus he DESIGNED all of Ezio's cool weapons.

I notice a lot of people saying Altair has no personality and Ezio is such a well-developed character. I disagree. Altair's personality is more subtle. Plus, his willingness to murder makes much more sense. Ezio goes from beating up douchebags in the street to stabbing random dudes in the neck with almost no transition. Ezio is just a stereotype of italy equipped with knives and agility.

I have to say both. After all, they're 'ancestral' father and son.
Altair was a bit of a simple personality, but I love his determination.
Ezio is overall more fun to follow, but he doesn't have that edge that Altair does.

Ezio has a personality, isn't a douchebag, isn't an idiot, and is sexy.

with Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 now on the shelves, I've got a question that comes to mind:

Which of Desmond's ancestors do you like most?

Me? I like Ezio, he's got more personality than Altair in my opinion, he's got 2 hidden blades for double the assasination fun, and he's got alot more sweet skills in fighting, sneaking, and free-running than Altair does, in my opinion at least.
I totally agree with you man. Ezio made assassination into an art. His array of blades, knives, swords, hammers, poisons, and projectile weaponry gave the overall feel of someone who could actually pull off a successful assassination, while Altair was basically a one-trick pony.

Oh, and for overall visual style Ezio's garb had far more personality and flow, compared to Altair's, which felt a little plain and drab

Ezio, because he killed a
