Why is there a poll within a poll?
OT: Never been to high school yet, I don't really think it'll be that good or bad.

This may seem cliché, but hear me out. I'm entering high school next year. What should I expect? Is it time to crack down on the hard work and leave my social life behind? Or will I be constantly getting wasted by senior year? Got any tips? Thanks in advance!
It will most likely suck nut but as long as you don't get some STD or killed and study hard it will go by fast enough and college will be a blast.
P.S.
Don't get yourself pregnant or if you are a man some girl pregnant.

It really depends on your school. For me, I've got a rather lame, standard approach. I'm friends with most people, definitly not enemies with anyone. I'm sure I could find myself wasted at any given moment, but I've not tried yet for some reason. Still don't have to study too much, but more than nothing is recommended.

And no, there's no Freshman Friday.

Hahahaha more negative answers to the poll than positive ones.

I guess that's what happens when you throw up the poll on a site mainly populated by hermits.
Says the guy with 985 posts...*cough*
You have 42 posts.
I have 985.

Let's take my total, and divide it with the number of days I have been on the forums.
We'll say fuck it to the last days of April, and have them cancel last last days of this month out, and just have it be 365x2+90. That's 820.

You've been here since the seventh of this month.

Your daily posting average is 42/18. That means 2,33333333333.
My daily posting average is 986(This post being counted)/820. That means 1.20243902439.

Maybe you should think before you write.

Just ignore everyone and do whatever you want to do. All high school contains is a bunch of idiots who think they have to be part of a trend to be popular.
Well, I was about to give my advice, but the Snooty individual here beat me to it. I found that I avoided a LOT of high school drama by doing two things.

1. I officially said "Screw it" to my social standing. I didn't care if I was popular or in the 'in crowd'. I doubted I'd ever be one of the popular kids, so why bother?

2. Try to find a few good friends. A good, real friend or two will do WONDERS for you.

But really, it's just high school. Three to four years depending on your district. It's really not that big a part of your life. I'm of the opinion that whoever said that high school was "The best years of your life" was some wash-up high school jock who spiraled into obscurity afterwards. I'm having a LOT more enjoyment in college personally, and after I graduate I doubt I'll think of college as "The best years of my life". Really, I viewed high school as a checkpoint of sorts.

Not a bad one, I had an AWESOME engineering class focused on Computer Aided Design where I got to make some really nice sterling silver rings (Yeah, I kinda went to a real ritzy school, especially for a public school) but it was by no means the highlight of my life. So, enjoy the time when you can, pick electives based on how interesting they sound rather than how easy they are, and pray to god you get some fun teachers.

I have no idea what your high school will be like. Both secondary schools I've been to are selective all girls' schools, so the atmosphere and the learning environment there is pretty different.

Just do what you want to do. Don't abandon your social life; it's important to have a balance. Make sure you have time to do the stuff you like doing as well as your homework. Try not to make any enemies. And if you are going to get wasted, make sure it's because you want to, not because your friends made you.

In High School, you will learn two very important lessons:

1. Achievement is overrated.
2. Other people suck.

Just take it easy, ignore all the douchebags, and save your partying for college.

there is a song, high school never ends. This should sum up your high school experience pretty well IMHO.

High school prepares you for what the rest of the world is like socially while offering no real skills to deal with it.

But don't be in a hurry to get it over with, you'll find yourself longing for those days in the halls with your friends (I know I do.)

I'm starting senior year this monday, and the years before it have been okay. I haven't been severly traumatized nor have I enjoyed myself greatly. Just some tips, don't procrastinate on major assignments and just try to chill with friends.

Be outgoing, you don't have to belong to the pack of popular kids, but at least communicate with them and dont make a fool out of yourself.

YOu do get alot of friends on High School though, it actually improved my social life. So weighing everything up against eachother the best answer is "meh". Or ofcourse "42".

High School, I guess, was fun, but to me it was Junior High study, study, and more study. Then I moved, and for my senior year it was annoy the foreigner, lol. Besides that, I guess it's fun, but always remember; your education should come before your social life.
Are you serious? Whatever you do, you can do a year twice! Always go for social life, because if you pass your tests, you want someone to celebrate it with. You want friends to go party all night, trust me. So never let your social life go down to much, you should keep them balanced.

I live in Britain, so here I believe the equivalent is comprehensive school.

I suggest not trying to change too much to fit into a crowd. In my first year I didn't talk to anyone who liked R'n'B or hip hop or anything like that because I believed they were chavs. A lot of them were, but it limited the friends I could have. Most of the people from my primary school (your elementary school) I didn't talk to much after getting into comprehensive, but one of them, who was my best friend through parts of the first year, second year and parts of the third, turned into a backstabbing, selfish dick, which made it pretty hard for me, because if I said anything behind his back or I annoyed him, he could turn a lot of my friends who hung around in the same place against me, which he did do three times, making my life hard. I turned into a social recluse in the library for a while, but made new friends, mostly people a year younger, and one of them I consider family now, as they have helped me through some hard times.

All I can say is be yourself. If people don't like it, that's fine, but there will be people who do. Don't try and be the same as everyone else, as it won't affect the judgement people have on you and they will like you for something you're not.

Also, work hard so you can do well, but it's not really necessary until you have to do the exams and get the grades for college.

I'm going to be a college freshman this year so High School is petty fresh in my mind. honestly, it'll be as hard or as fun as you make it. Don't be an idiot but don't kill yourself either. Just take it at your own speed and know your limits and you'll survive. And remember, as soon as you get into college it doesn't matter anyway.

Uh, I don't know what years your high school encompasses, but I do know this: Douchebags tend to be the popular ones, try to manage a social life (I didn't), and you'll pretty much come out fine, but please, for the sake of humanity, don't become one of those high school douchebags, believe me, they're unbearable.

And dude, you're 13. Don't bother with the beer & sex for a few years yet.

Are you thinking of college afterwards? Get your math down now, and keep your grades up. There may be a program or two for advanced placement in more rigorous prep courses or even an option to begin attending junior college for High School credit. And its at no cost to you but you can't get in without good grades.

There's a place for beer and sex and exxxperimentation and that is college my friend. You don't want to blow this now and end up being the 36 year old guy in a room full of kids trying to finish your degree later.

If you're not planning for college, or a trade, find someone who makes good fake ID's.

Seriously do what you need to do. ;)
