Yep, we're going brony today. Who's your favorite pony in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? Spike is allowed in this poll (you'll have to choose "Other"), since he's basically a member of the Mane 6 as well. Of course remember to explain your opinion, be civil, and all that jazz. With that out of the way, let's rock on and pony out! XD

Captcha: "good night" I wonder if it's foreshadowing something? :p

Ugh, fine!...Well then, it's clearly that one with the rainbow hair, because I don't fancy the one who sounds like a redneck, the one who reminds me of Miley Cyrus or the one who squeaks like she's on her deathbed. She gets to play with clouds and weather and the power of flight and shit! Too legit to quit.

EDIT: Four-way split, goddamn!

I've only recently finished binge-watching MLP, so this is my very first brony/pegasister thread. Woo!

Applejack. I love that she's strong, honest, down to earth and dislikes drama. I can also identify with her lack of "girliness", and especially the fact that she's totally uninterested in fashion :p

Second would probably be Rainbow Dash (who I initially thought would be my favourite because of the whole tomboy thing) and Pinkie Pie, though I also have a soft spot for Fluttershy. I find Twilight slightly dull a lot of the time, and Rarity's my least favourite since she's pretty much the opposite of Applejack.

[small]Also I'll admit I very nearly chose "other" just so I could pick Discord...[/small]

In that case, welcome to the herd! (yeah, it's a silly phrase)

Well, my pick should be obvious. Btw, have you seen "Simple Ways" yet?

Hehe, thanks.

Yup, I'm fully caught up now (just in time to join the wait for season 5). I really enjoyed Simple Ways, Applejack's Rarity impression was hilarious XD

The part that really stuck out to me there was that Applejack seemed like she actually knew what she was doing when she went all classy on us - like she had experience doing that before. To me at least, it seemed like the show was remembering that Applejack did actually have a history with high society as seen in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles". Don't know if it was intentional or not, but that is the impression I got from how naturally AJ seemed to rock that dress and imitate Rarity's style.

I vote Rarity. Forget the pink one, She gets the best lines and almost always steals the show when she shows up on screen even when its not her episode.
She should get more lines and access to a time machine.
Whenever she is not on screen, all the other characters should go "Where's Rarity?".

Agro is best pony. He's courageous, intelligent, reliable, and comes from something that isn't as badly written and creatively bankrupt as a Michael Bay film.

...Trixie, my answer is Trixie. I really like the fan made comics of Trixie and Twilight in abusive relationships, like House and Wilson finally broke down and started fucking. The show sucks, but some of the fan made items are entertaining.

Fluttershy is the best, she is so cute and innocent like. It make me really want to protect her!

EDIT- Second place would be Rarity and then Pinkie Pie.

It used to a Fluttershy, then it was Pinkie Pie, but now it's Rarity. Oh Rarity, why is the most hated horse of the mane 6 the best (not on this thread though, but she is usually the last favorite.)

Rarity started off as a girly character about fashion clothes to someone that shares my creative expression. She isn't about buying clothes, she's about being a designer. The show has various episodes about the struggles of a designer, but also the rewards. Not to mention that Rarity has some of the best episodes in the show.

I only made it through season 1 and part of 2 before I got bored but I thought Fluttershy was a pretty cute character.

I accept that I don't know enough to have a proper opinions though. :D

Yeah, I picked up on that too. It made me smile how Rarity's imitation of Applejack was pretty unconvincing, but when Applejack decided to turn the tables she really went for it and almost out-Rarityed Rarity. Classic Applejack, putting 100% into everything, even when it's something like strutting around in a fancy dress :p

I've only watched Season 1, but I feel like posting in a pony thread for once! Fluttershy for me, she's adorable. I loved her sensitive and caring nature.

Observation: I find it interesting that Luna is currently dead last here, as she tends to dominate the polls at sites like Equestria Daily. A case of saner heads prevailing?

...I kid, I kid. I like Luna and all, but I don't go nuts over her like many bronies do. Perhaps it's because I don't insert fanon interpretations of her like the "Woona" and "Gamer Luna" personas that are popular with certain elements of the fandom.

In any case, there is only one pony fabulous enough for this poll:

There are several reasons why I think Rarity is best pony:

-I like her character's design and color palette. It's distinctive and eye-catching without being "loud."

-Rarity episodes tend to be my favorites.

-VA Tabitha St. Germain consistently delivers amazing performances. Her vocal range is nothing short of astounding.

-In a show known for bucking gender expectations, having a main character that's interested in "girly" topics (fashion, makeovers, tea parties, etc.) helps remind the viewer that it's not a bad thing (as MovieBob pointed out in <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-big-picture/8530-Pink-Is-Not-The-Problem>Pink Is Not the Problem).

-It could have been so easy for the writers to cast Rarity as shallow and self-absorbed, yet they decided to make her a genuinely likeable and complex three-dimensional character instead. She's a <a href=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpoiledSweet>Spoiled Sweet instead of the far more common <a href=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AlphaBitch>Alpha *****.

Pinkie Pie got my top spot again after season 4. While it's easy to seriously screw her up by writing her off as a lunatic, but written well she becomes the most realistic and relatable (to me, at least) character.

Pinkie Pie is not very rational (or simply not at all rational). She is also impulsive (no shit). A lot of her humor stems from situational irony that can be very grating sometimes when it's really obvious, but Pinkie also makes a lot of genuine jokes - something the rest of the cast almost never do (Discord excluded). The rest of the Mane Six barely react to any of her shenanigans, though. So yeah, through multiple writers she has her share of lunacy, but I'm willing to forgive and forget some missteps.

Your opinion is completely valid for the amount of the show that you have.

There is a distinct possibility that it may change if you ever decide to continue, mostly because of much more in depth character personalities have been explored.

As an example, leaving aside all the fan created Luna-ish stuff, Luna did not have much of a character until recently. She has become much more of a mentor and protector through interacting in ponies' dreams. She is very stoic, yet extremely caring, which was intensified especially after seeing how and why she became Nightmare Moon.

I still picked Fluttershy because her VA (Andrea Liebman) is just as full of kindness and wonder as her character. But unless something unusual happens soon, I feel like Fluttershy's character has probably hit a pinnacle with no where else to go.

Fluttershy is best pony (well duh, just check out Keep Calm and Flutter On) but I do feel compelled to point out that Luna is Best Princess.
