Paragon to my squad and my crew, Renegade to enemies and assorted riff-raff.
This. Every time I play ME I feel like the godfather, nice to my friends but harsh to my enemies.

I'm waaaay too nice a guy in games to choose renegade in the blink of an eye. I do play a second time with only renegade, but if feels less fun. Renegade Shepard is a major D-bag.

When I played it I would do whatever gave me the bigger advantage in the long term. No reason to refrain from a renegade action if it just disables some enemies right before a fire fight, but generally I stayed Paragon as the plot leans heavily towards "Get allies or weaken everyone else so humanity can focus on the reapers" - And in a post-reaper world with humanity weakened it would not be a good thing that she was beset on all sides by powerful and very angry aliens with a grudge against her.

Thankfully in my own canon the reapers didn't want to invade the galaxy due to the mandatory installation of Origin. Sure they were evil but not EA-evil

I find myself doing the same thing in SWTOR, where I pick a certain character trait to build off, My Shepard is a very honourable fighter, she won't kill a man who's surrendered, and she is more likely to pick whichever option fits her particular ideals. Point in case, I spared the Rachni Queen, because I believed her story, But I destroyed the Geth in ME2, because I could not justify brainwashing a race, as that would put me on the same level of the opponents I was fighting.

You have two options if you want all available persuasion choices. Be a goody two shoes or a badass. Now, you cant even change much beyond a few weapon slots and what your armor looks like.

It's a great game BioWare. But don't lie to us. It's not an RPG.

With Mass Effect 3 right around the corner, I wanted to see where the community on the Escapist tend to lean in regards to morality. I prefer the badassery of the Renegade options, personally.
Paragon.
I have nothing against occasional "knife to the eye" move, but some Renegade choices are among most illogical i ever witnessed.

Paragon dialogue, Renegade interrupts... :D

To elaborate: I play the good guy, hence the Paragon dialogue. Picking Renegade dialogue isn't badass as much as it's douchebag. On the other hand, if ME2 is any indication, Interrupts are awesome as Renegade, they actually let you do badass things and don't require a high Renegade meter. I get to be kind, generous AND awesome at the same time!

In my first time playing I'll choose what I believe I would in that situation and do that for the game. It tends to be more Renegade but I'm an asshole in real life so it's natural.

For my 2nd times I go full renegade and try to mix things up a bit with squad mates.

3rd I go Paragon so I can see the full extent of the game.

mostly paragon with the odd kicking mouthy guards through a skyscraper window for annoying me
Basically that (he had it comin', I tells ya!). Although, with a second playthrough, I'm going to be running through all the options I didn't take first time around, so I get to experience the Renegade side of things too. I'm greatful that Mass Effect's 'evil' path generally means picking options that can be summarised as 'by any means necessary' rather than simply 'I'm going to throw this baby out of a window, then laugh at the grieving mother just because I can'.

Mostly Paragon with a hint of renegade. Given the choice I'll go for the paragon options but if renegade fits and makes sense I will choose it.

This only applies to my first playthrough, second is a very different story. Second time around it will be pure renegade, even if paragon would be useful or is more logical, as my second time is always my designated "evil" playthrough.

I go with mostly paragon, though when it fits, renegade. Whatever seems more logical. If I can shoot an enemy before they can react, rather than risk my life in a fair fight, I'll do it.

That said, I saved the Rachni but destroyed the Geth heretics. Brain washing made it... Difficult for me to choose, but stupid choice or not it was what Shepard considered best at the time. Picking the less 'splody option in the suicide mission in ME2 might also come back to bite me in the arse, but Shepard isn't perfect. Just someone trying to survive, and fight the Reapers.

I normally play paragon, but for some reason I have taken a liking to being "evil" in these kinds of games. I am gonna give renegade a shot for ME3.

I play paragon because renegade Shep comes off more like a jerk than a cool badass. I'm playing the dark side choices in TOR and they are more towards being badass choices rather than making your character look like socially awkward penguin. So maybe they will get it right in ME3.

I played through each of the first two twice (Male and Female) so I basically got to try both, though there were decisions made with both characters that involved getting points on either side.
