I indulge myself in a renegade action every once in awhile (that loud mouth Krogan comes to mind) but I'm a goody goody at heart.
Yeah, I nutted the krogan, and gunned down the mercs between me and miranda's sister, but otherwise full Paragon here.

Some of the renegade choices make sense in a 'get the job done quickly' kind of way, but others feel too much like 'Kill Kill Kill!' or 'F*** aliens! only humans matter!'

I default to Paragon because I rarely find a good reason to act like a dick to someone.

I generally pick the Renegade options if its anything hostile related, the paragon options are more for supportive measurements to team mates and civilians, everyone else, including corrupted businessmen get a BOOT to the FACE.

Mass effect is one of those games where I don't really get the idea of having a morality system. You're always trying to save the universe so really you're always a hero and never be really bad, sure you could help Cerberus but how exactly is that an 'evil' thing to do.

Still I played sorta in the middle, but leaned heavily towards Renegade and helping Cerberus (They did bring me back to life after all) and I never played the first one so I never felt like a hero to begin with.

For Mass Effect I tried to hit a middle ground between Paragon and Renegade. I did this because I was supposed to be representing Human beings in Council territory so I had to put on a nice face for the cameras. Of course, when it came to in-mission circumstances, I reverted back to being an impatient, sarcastic jackass because I don't have time to solve other people's problems when the galaxy is at stake.

Once Mass Effect 2 started I found myself completely free from my Alliance affiliation so I just went full Renegade. I killed my enemies. I intimidated the obstacles. I gloated over the wounded. I told the Illusive Man to go fuck himself. Mercy just slows down the story. And yet, I still had enough Paragon points to be empathetic to my crew when I needed to be.

I guess my version of Shepherd is very Captain Reynolds-esque.

Always Paragon, though in my current ME2 playthrough (having lost my previous data when I switched to a new X360), I've allowed myself to indulge in some of the renegade actions.

What I hate about the Mass Effect morality system is the Renegade is not only badass, but also encompasses being a dick for no reason (like not helping a dying person for no benefit), and Paragon is not only honourable/acceptable, but also encompasses being naive and doing good things to people who don't deserve it. However, if you want to go well in the game and make sure no-one DIES, you have to be one or the other, completely, and that annoys me because you can't be any number of reasonable personalities, like law-enforcing good but with no tolerance for enemies, a badass utilitarian who just wants to get the job done, or even just a Paragon character who sees the Krogan Genophage as a necessary measure. But no, you're either a complete dick or a wide-eyed idealist. So I chose the third option.

And to answer your question properly, in my playthrough where I don't give a f*** (which is important to have), I ended up about equal. I also have 5 others, two of which are full Paragon and full Renegade, the rest being a little slanted towards either (and who have a hard time solving anything because they're not bipolar).

I usually do two playthroughs. My paragon is a goody two shoes guy. My renegade is a steel nerved, cold hearted take now prisoners lady. The female voice just works better as a renegade and I usually have more fun with the renegade. Ice Queen for the win.

I role-play as... myself, which is kind of weird since my ME primary is a Fem Shep but who cares. I tend to go for the Paragon choices unless the Renegade ones seem to be the practical/reasonable/whathaveyou thing to do, for example basically all the interrupts. Then again some times I make my choice and am surprised afterwards when I find out I picked Renegade/Paragon when I didn't think that was what the choice was.

Over all, I dislike the labeling of choices. I like choices, they're good, but I don't like the game telling me that I'm Eeeevil for eating babies or Heroic! for giving money to the poor. It just feels like being beaten over the head with the idiot stick. "This is obvious! We're gonna keep telling you it's obvious until you're head explodes!"

Also sometimes the labeling of choices as Renegade/Paragon seems glaring when the question is very Grey.

Paragon. I won't pay renegade any heed. Yeah, some of the renegade stuff is badass, but the rest just seem stupid to me.

I usually go for Paragon but once someone tries to kill me I will murder their soldiers out of buildings and in construction sites and I will take out the big bad when he's a quarter through his villain speech.
I'm a nice guy but if you try to fuck with me I will break your kneecaps and choke you to death with them.

Usually Paragon. I like being a nice guy.

However, if someone really pisses me off, or if Renegade gives an advantage in a particular situation, I'll pick that instead.

Like here for example . . .
This choice always seemed dumb to me.

Why is it considered a renegade action to kill that one mercenary, yet having Mordin burn people to death (A blatant war-crime by the way) in combat considered OK.

Another example of this is in Garrus' loyalty mission: Letting Garrus kill the traitor or the crime boss is considered to be renegade, but butchering those mercs guarding the warehouse (all of whom were killed for no reason whatsoever if you take the paragon route) is absolutely fine.

Paragon. I can't help it. On my first playthrough, I was paragon, with a few renegade points as well, and for my second playthrough, I decided that I'll try to be more renegade. The result? I was even more paragon that in the first playthrough.

Now I firmly decided that I'm making a renegade character for my third playthrough. I have it all figured out, I have to make it!
