LOl! USA won't even get a medal finish in hockey. I'm thinking that it's going to be really close between Canada and Russia. Sweden just doesn't look as good this year. Also, you are a jerk. Eh! Oh! Canada Go! (ya I don't know who in their right mind came up with our Hockey cheer, it sucks but I'll stand by it all the same).UltraParanoia said:Hockey, that's it.
Fuck Canada! Go USA! [sub][sub]it's probably going to be russia or the damn swedes[/sub][/sub]

Yer.. the next summer olympics isn't going to be happening.. there is no way we will finish building the staduim(s) in time.IckleMissMayhem said:Winter Olympics... bleh. Summer Olympics for Sailing, Windsurfing and Kayaking is what I'm interested in, just gotta wait another couple of years...
Yeah. i used to race slalom and giant slalom. I can tell you one mistake and boom pain. I blew my knee pretty bad doing that. The speed is amazing though. It's such a thrill. I was driving my car on the highway one day and i lokked and my speedometer and i just thought to myself that i have done this speed before not in a car but going downhill on two strips of plastic resin fibreglass. 85kmph...man it's just amazing. go try it some day. you won't regret it. unless you wipe out. that hurtsGunner 51 said:I always liked the skiing, I always got the impression it was pretty dangerous to go the speeds those boys go.Haunted Serenity said:yeah you look at all the high tech stuff they get and then you realise, thats a gift from a big name company for advertising. Thats why the downhill skiers always take off one ski at the bottom and hold it up so you can see who made it. some countries pay their olympians better though.Gunner 51 said:I didn't know all that. I just assumed that by donning all expensive kit they get a lot of money from what they did. I had always assumed they got paid in the same way that football ( or soccer) players did - via a professional body and sponsorship deals.ArmsAkimbo said:Yeah... Except actual Olympic athletes get paid next to nothing for what they do, and do in fact need to have normal jobs. They can maybe do a Cheerios commercial for an easy paycheck but that's about all they get out of it. Some countries offer cash prizes, but the US gave out $25,000 as the maximum prize to gold medalists, which isn't a heck of a lot considering the time the athletes put into it. Why do you think there are so many "Support Olympic Athletes" foundations? It's because they get paid bugger all for what they do.Gunner 51 said:I'll be watching none of it, myself. All over-paid 'athletes' paid to do what amounts to a hobby or exercise. Plus you get all the inevitable guff with doping and cheating allegations - it's the mainstream equivalent of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode on X-box Live to me.
Thanks for telling me all this, I've learnt something there.![]()
The venues for the sports I've mentioned are well on track to be completed waaaay ahead of time. In fact, we already have venues already in this country suitable. Quite a few, in fact.Bigsmith said:Yer.. the next summer olympics isn't going to be happening.. there is no way we will finish building the staduim(s) in time.IckleMissMayhem said:Winter Olympics... bleh. But are you aware that a joke instantly transmitted through the internet is the equivalent of a story from Egyptian times being horribly mangled and mistranslated for 5000 years until someone reads it on these forums?UltraParanoia said:Twas a jokeWakikifudge said:Lost In The Void said:I can't wait myself, I love watching the events, the only things stopping me are school and work. I'm still annoyed the the NHL All star game was canceled for the olympics though.
