where's the button on the poll that reads "WHO THE FUCK CARES?"

because that's the one I'd press.
I believe it's the 4th option.

What if this was you though. What if you stumbled across an internet forum that had hundreds of people picking apart the sound of your voice and coming up with wacky theories. It'd be a bit weird don't you think? Anyway, I don't think it would be surprising if he mentioned all this in extra punctuation next week saying something to the effect of "Christ, you're all a bunch of weirdoes like [insert a creepy stalker reference]. The real reason is that I was up early (or late) because I put off my review til the last minute. That, and I was fighting zombies."

Actually, it kind of sounds like he'd just woken up or something (not to continue being a creepy stalker >_>)
I agree, however being somewhat of an "International Jet-setting Playboy" would lend it's self to tonnes of people picking apart the slightest thing different from week to week in ZP. I'm sure that if he's not already use to it he simply ignores it.

And in regards to leaving it 'til the last minuite... they're up at the same time each week and this week was no exception.

He seemed much less enthusiastic to be honest. Maybe he's actually lost the will to live!
Gotta say, i found it less entertaining because it wasnt as upbeat and comical...
Did you seriously find it that off putting? I really don't think it made an ounce of difference. However I do find it interesting that so many people noticed it.

He wants his reviews to clock in at around 4-5 minutes.

If the raw footage goes over that (which it usually does, he's a wordy guy), he has to speed it up to reach that sweet spot.

What you heard today is a review where he only had 4-5 minutes worth of shit to say about the game. That's how he actually sounds.

WHO CARES?

It's just his voice!

Jesus, You'd think he's dying or something.
Well, his voice is the main character of the show. I guarantee he just bought a new mic, we'll get used to it eventually. I say it's about time. The headset mic gave his voice a good character but it really isn't a high-dollar sound - just slightly superior to the average youtuber, and that's on account of his good speaking tone.

Now I just want to know what mic it is, I guessed earlier it was a Heil PR-40 but now I'm leaning more towards a condenser because of the amount of detail. At least a small capsule, possibly a 1" capsule. If it is a condenser it's impressive, just a little bit of room noise and a nice tone without any pops or other wonkyness. It's not a touch sensitive bastard like my Rode NT-1A is, anyways.

No way, if that were the case we'd hear changes in the tone every week. And pitch-correct time compression doesn't affect the tone that way. If he is time compressing his voice on a regular basis, I want whatever program he's using because it's a lot smoother sounding than what I get out of Cubase and Cool-Edit.

Personally, the new mic or whatever does make his voice sound unusual, in the sense that it is not what we are used to.
But I actually found this review to be a bit slow for yahtzee's style. It didn't sound fluid and energetic as his normal vids; that combined with the new voice probably is what is causing such a stir.
It was funny, but felt like a punchline being delivered in monotone. Just didn't have the same effect.

I noticed the change but it doesn't bother me at all. He's probably just testing new recording equipment or at least that's my theory.
that sounds about right, have you ever went back and re-watched his first reviews?

Overall it doesn't affect the writing and animation styles. But it did affect the subtle tones of voice used for comedic timing. The verbal audio sounded very monotone compared to his previous videos.

At least they aren't bleeping out colorful words like they started doing for Movie Bob. Jinx!

Does it honestly matter? It doesn't change ZP in any way. To be completely frank, the fact you've made a thread about a new mic change says a lot of things about you.

I'd love to see what you'd do when the local news station changes weathermen...

Maybe his other testicle descended...

hey it's a possibility.

Errmm...I think not.

I did notice it too. Its kind of off-putting, since Yathzee's voice and style of speech are what makes his videos so fun to watch.

OT: I demand to know what show Ocelot GT's avatar is from.

And by "demand" I mean "Please tell me where it's from."

Just because it seems to be the only thing being talked about in the comments in the ZP for Assassins Creed 2

The options of the poll are just what I saw offered as suggestions as to the cause in the comments.

Personally I don't think it effected the ZP at all.
Sounds exactly like he did in his real life video stuff.

Actually this is his voice in his earliest reviews. I just thought he was trying to make a turn-around back to his roots.
