This is just a random poll. i don't know if anyone else did this type of poll, but i don't really care.

out of opinion, my personal favorites are Gundams and Glastonberrys, probably because they're piloted by actually decent pilots and not perfect examples of people who should be sectioned and undergoing therapy.

i think most people can level with me if i say this in a list.
Shinji: obviously has father issues
Rei: possible rape victim (who the fuck knows what Gendo Ikari did to her... and i don't think people WANT to know)
Asuka: obviously over-compensating for inner pain.

and i honestly think if people let THEM pilot those huge mechas and consider them earth's last possible hope... who the fuck decided that and what fucking bucket was on their head or what the fuck were they on while doing their fucking paperwork?!

oh... and if it's robotic and piloted by human or alien, it counts.

I think Meisters are bad ass from the gundam setting, superb pilots gunners and melee fighters rolled into one. But i voted other, because there's nothing more brutal then piloting a mech into battle from the Battletech world your mech is a fucking nuclear bomb and you have to let people shoot at it! That what being a MechWarrior is all about.

Gotta love the 40K mecha, from the lowliest Crisis Battlesuit to the largest God-Machine.

I <3 lumbering death-machines.

Lasers & flamethrowers & nuclear missiles, oh my!
if it's robotic and a human can pilot it. it classifies as a mecha.

I guess it would be Gundams since I'm not not very initiated in mecha manga and anime.
Wait, do exoskeletons (Aliens, Avatar, Matrix Revolutions kinda) count?

I just have to love me some Titans.
I want to take it home with me!
Alternatively, the MechWarrior mechs (>.> What else? Duh) are pretty damn cool. and cute.

I was actually expecting this to be a choice between super robot or real robot, not the actual different mechs themselves.

Also it just seems like this was a chance to take a stab at Evangelionm, talk about pathetic, if you wanna make a hate thread just do it and get banned peacefully.

Always thought the Battle Suit from Red Faction 2 was a beastly looking thing. It just looks mean.

Failing that, do movies count? Because if so I loved the design of the "Prawn" Battle System from District 9. Movement faster than a car, jumps from roof to roof, reflex enhancers (it catches an rpg in mid-flight), lightning cannon, plasma flak gun, multiple micro-missiles, a defence system sort of like a Gravity Gun (it grabs 5 full clips worth of bullets shot at it and fires them all back at their shooters, and also shoots a dead pig at someone to kill them), ability to survive anti-tank sniper rounds, but the coolest thing that I like about it is that it's not particularly large, about twice the hight of a human, and it seems far more organic in movement than mechanical, sort of like a wild animal, and this to me just seems like a really cool and original way to portray mechs.

That and it's also the only real mech ever made in a film which truly kicks some soldier ass.

I don't really like most mechs in general, mostly because I know too much about engineering and mechanics to find them believable. Especially the giant hundred foot tall or more ones. (What the fuck is it made out of that's strong enough to stand up to that kind of stress?)

Having said that, I'll go with the mechs [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleMechs] from Battletech [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleTech], mostly because I love the way the classic game treated them. All of the production facilities that could make them had been destroyed in The Succession Wars [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_BattleTech_universe#The_Succession_Wars] so they were handed down from generation to generation as part of a neo-feudal noble title and we kept running at all costs, I always though that was a nifty idea.

...

[small]God damn I wish someone would make a good Battletech movie, that would make my fucking day.[/small]

SPOILER WARNING!!! But only if you have not played No More Heroes at all and still want to.

Wait a minute! Travis definitely needs therapy! He couldn't get over his ex-lover/half-sister murdering his parents, has severe empathy issues, and is narcissistic to boot!

Still, I'm the only person who voted Glastonbury, which is also stylistically similar to Macross or Robotech mechs as well as having all the flair of a Gundam. And in regards to the Evangelion stuff: I thought it was about the robot, not the pilot. And Rei is a clone (ala the good Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture's stock of clones) and has issues that people who have been mindwiped have been more fortunate than her in that regard.

I know for a fact that about 76% of the pilots in the Gundam series is all sorts of FUBAR; they are either psychics that have no grasp on reality and lack any real skills to pilot them and tend to have no training when hopping into the suit at the beginning of the series. Plus Amuro has a silly looking Jerry curl Afro, and that's something I wouldn't allow inside of a robot that can take down a star destroyer!

But it is refreshing to see that someone beat me to the punch on the trolling thing. Thanks Xavier!

Anime mechs are for wimps. True men walk around in mechs that could step on an EVA and not notice.

Hmm... so you hate Evangelion, neh? Too sad, it's a terrific story but I guess not everyone can enjoy it. Ya know, not every main protagonist must be big, musclebound and fearless to run in and destroy every enemy in sight. I have a feeling you completely missed the point of NGE if that's the conclusion you've come to.

Either Armored core mechs or Titans for their ability to destroy an entire city.

It's more that the last 5 or so episodes are complete shit then having a problem with then the characters themselves.
The entire series isnt bad, but it's vastly overrated.

There is only one "mecha" I like from an anime, which is Deathscythe from Gundam. Only then because as his name suggests, he uses a scythe.

Also Apsalus III.

The mountain got owned.

I can understand someone getting turned off from the series on the final 2 episodes; those are pure mindfucks, but hating the series because it decides to focus on characters? I don't know, I guess I may be the 'resident fanboy' here, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I found the series damned good but this thread seems like an intentional jab at the series for all the wrong reasons. (Also, the movies help to clear up the confusing ending a bit... just a bit.)
