I like the LFO's from Eureka 7. The way they fly around I find to be quite relaxing.

I guess it would be Gundams since I'm not not very initiated in mecha manga and anime.
Wait, do exoskeletons (Aliens, Avatar, ReBoot, Matrix Revolutions kinda) count?
as said before, if it's robotic and human-piloted, it counts.
I guess I choose exos then. One of the coolest scenes in movie history was when Ripley fought the queen in Aliens.
ah. i'm more partial to the RDA's AMP suit from Avatar.
Yeah... that was awesome. James Cameron is truly a king of sci-fi, that's for sure.

Anime mechs are for wimps. True men walk around in mechs that could step on an EVA and not notice.

<spoiler=image>
I don't think Warhounds Titans are that much bigger (if at all) than the Evangelion mechs though, so your picture isn't entirely applicable.

Try the Imperator Titan in stead. Now those babies could flatten an EVA and not even notice it. Hell, they could flatten a city and hardly notice it.

For a more lulz effect, the Mecha Tengu

But one that really rocks my socks is the Atlas

I like them ones with the big guns.

OT: Actually never really paid attention to the whole Mecha culture, but the best ones I've seen would probably be the Warhammer: 40K ones, or the Transformers, if they count.

well... Transformers are mechas, but aren't the ones i'm focusing on. you can still choose them, i was talking about piloted mechas. the ones that require a human or humans to pilot it.
Hell, you could throw in Voltron, Zords or whatever the power ranger's giant robots are and it still would count.

Huge fan of the AMP suit from Avatar:

It even has a massive bowie knife for frak sake!

Second place goes to the AT-ST for being such a timeless classic. Third goes to all mechs in W40K universe for sheer overkill, though the humble Dreadnaught is my favourite.

But where do you draw the line between the 2? I see the Avatar AMP suit as a true mech, while Ripley's machine looked more like a big exoskeleton.

Metal Gears, especially REX. REX is just pure awesome.

Oh, and the whole nukes 'n' railguns thing. That's always a plus.

my preferred mech is and has always been the mechs from the Armored Core series. Sort of a combination between gundams and mech warrior and I was always fascinated by them since Armored core 2

Anybody remember ZOIDS?
I do. You stole what I was going to do too.
Yeah I have to go with Zoids. I used to wake up at 3am every morning to watch the show, and all others afterwords.

Actually the AMP suit does look pretty cool. I didn't like that general though... he was a dick. Actually... pretty much the majority of the RDA corporates or soldiers were dicks anyway.
