Poll: Porn. Have you ever been caught with it and how would you react if you caught your kids?

A topic i'm sure has been done to death, but i got curious. Have you ever been caught looking at porn or had your parents discover porn on your laptop / tv / other? I have once long ago. My mum reacted badly to it despite me being 16 years old and using the 'at least i'm looking at naked ladies and not reasoning. This was probably due to her growing up in a very repressed period where sex and whatnot as all viewed as evil / sinful / whatever, as my parents even now cringe whenever sex is on TV in a movie or TV show or something and it's still a very taboo subject for them. However as i'm pretty much an adult myself being close to 20 now, i reflected on that and thought that i wouldn't get mad at my kids if i found they'd been looking at pornographic material - it's perfectly normal during puberty, right? As long as it wasn't illegal stuff and they were discreet about it, i don't see much of a problem with it, although i'd probably have 'that talk' with them about it.

How would you react if you caught your kids with porn - badly or understandingly?
Have you ever been caught with porn? How did your parents react?

The age i'm talking about here is roughly 14-18 for argument's sake.

I'd be understanding but I'd probably explode with neuroticism and try to form a sentence to explain things nicely and concisely but will instead babble half words for about a minute and then try to back out of the room, bumping into everything on the way out.

I've never been caught, although it has gotten rediculously close at times. Ironically, and incredibly awkwardly, I have caught my dad watching it multiple times. Those scars do not heal.

Never caught exactly, but there have been eyebrows raised before I knew how to cover my tracks. My parents would be very, very disapproving if they knew, but they don't, so it's good

I would hope that I would be much less anal about it than my parents - obviously porn has some pitfalls, but I'd rather help my kid avoid them than ban it outright and have them going behind my back.

When I was a kid I was caught with a porno mag by my parents and I had a bloody hard smack but this was about 25 years ago.
If I caught my kids with porn, I wouldn't mind as we have all done the same when we were younger. I would however expect them to respect the opposite sex and not to be a dick about it.

Yes, I've been caught, many years ago when I lived with my parents. I was just like "yeah, so I'm looking at porn... and?".

I'll never have children, but if I did, they could look at porn if they wanted. After all it never hurt me.

I mean, of I found my kids watching porn I wouldn't be drifting into dreamland remembering the day When I yself did it but I would of course yell "Oh shit", and leave until I could better handle the situation.

Not actually caught in the act...no. However my parents did wonder why there was a few extra charges on the cable bill on the night I had about half a dozen of my friends sleep over. God I think I was like 15 or so... Penthouse channel FTW.

And I wouldn't react badly if I caught my kid. Like the OP said, it's natural and teenagers are gong to be curious. I'd only get concerned if it became a serious problem or something.

I have had very, very close encounters but my ninja skills have saved me time and time again.

I'd be a little bit worried if my kids saw porn. It really depends on what age I see them watch it at. My little brother (who is 10) keeps watching childbirth videos on youtube. Kinda wierd/worrying to be honest.

But if he asks about the birds and the bees I'm sure myself and my parents would be supportive of his curiosity.

Yes, not always. Anyway, just using this post to answer the 2nd part of the question, if I was to have kids and caught them watching porn, Id most likely not care. However, it also depends how old the kid is and as long as they respect the opposite sex, its all good.

I went to the toilet once with a porn mag and a batman comic around it. I left it there because I forgot all about it till my mom said: "I was reading your batman comic. And I was thinking.. poor.. poor.. batman." We had a bit of a laugh about that one.

And not for just this reason. There are plenty of others. But I respect people's choices to have kids, they're just not for me.

If I somehow hypothetically ended up with some of the awful things, I don't think I'd mind if they watched porn. I'd just make sure they weren't paying for it.

I wish to work in the porn industry as an extra form of income. It would be very hypocritical of me to react badly. However the content of the porn may cause me some concern depending on the type though I have nothing against people exploring their sexuality.

My mom once found my Tom of Finland book collection. Tom of Finland being one of the greatest artists of gay pr0n to ever live on the face of earth. Those, and some of my doushinjis that contain boy/boy stuff (mostly, MGS ones)

Now she mocks me about it everytime. Like, everytime I buy a new doushinji she says "Is that male homoerotic pornography?" But she seems to be cool with that, what's pretty good. Don't know about my dad though, because he has no idea I have those.

As for my kid (if I have one someday), well, I wouldn't really care much, if he or she is old enough to see it (and when I say old enough I say 15-16, because I started looking at pr0n when I was 13 and it was NO GOOD. Look at how I am now! I'm a mess! XD)

Never been caught actually viewing it, but my parents once found out while looking through my laptop's history. Now I always delete it after I'm done viewing.
