No, I'm saying anyone who rapes women is a pervert!
People who rape men, however, aren't perverts at all...
Oh for crying out loud...

Yes, people who rape men, women, children, dogs, livestock or any other non-consenting creature are all perverts. So are people who torture babies for sexual gratification, and so are people who get their rocks off by pouring boiling water over the heads of old ladies.

I was responding to this:

Maybe if perverts can "get their fill" using internet videos, then they don't feel the need to go outside and prey on real women?
Wait. Are you saying anyone who watches porn is a pervert?
And I referred specifically to women because my original comment referred specifically to women:

There are stats that suggest there may be a link between an increase in distribution of porn and a decrease in sexual assaults on women.
All OK now? Anyone else feel like being offended by me today?

I'm asexual and find porn downright surreal to look at, but I don't think it's evil or anything.
I suppose it's exploitative of everyone involved, but I still wish Sinfest strips would stop whining about it.

I think it is beneficial when it helps people become comfortable with the idea of sexuality, and also become more comfortable with and aware of their own sexuality, get a better idea of what they might like, what they might not like, etc.

I think pornography is harmful when people base their ideas of sexuality off of it and develop unrealistic ideas about sex, the body, relationships, etc, and when it degrades the importance if intimacy in a relationship. Porno is a form of entertainment, it is not a guidebook that will teach you better ways to have sex, how real people have sex, and it ignores the potential consequences of sex.

So, as with all things, there is a good side and a bad side, and it all depends on your personal perspective. I think this is one of the main reasons that we should have age restrictions on porn, and also why sex ed should be taught in school. If you have the context to view it properly, then it's great and harmless fun, if you don't have that maturity and knowledge then it can be damaging.
This pretty much sums it up. I think the same applies to most forms of media too.

Man porn is awesome, it's like, the ultimate stress reliever, and not because you can 'ya know' with yourself while watching it. I'll often times be angry or upset after a long day, then I just go home and watch some incredibly campy porn. The dialogue oh god the dialogue! It's the funniest damn stuff you will ever hear ever.

Some of my favorite porn directors:
Shaun Costello/Warren Evans
Anthony Spinelli
Alex de Renzy
Joe D'Amato

They made a lot of the classics. You haven't seen porn until you've seen porn made on or before 1984. There were many things going on at that time that changed porn forever, VHS, Reagan, AIDS, etc. It was the end of the dark and dirty eroticism.

Now all porn seems to be shot in the middle of the afternoon, with the sun pouring in the home of some producer who lives in the hollywood hills. *yawn*

And what's wrong with degradation? How about we work on not enslaving and murdering one another first and then worry about minor social disorders later? Gotta get your priorities in order humanity. Degrading others is human, it's in families, schools, the work place. I think the degrading in fantasy films is probably the least harmful brand.

Me and my girlfriend of 2 years watch it from time to time, but we have to pace ourselves. I don't like for us to get lost in that... mindset, I guess? or fantasy? it just feels like it would have a degenerating effect on our relationship if we let it. I think it can be a wonderful thing, but like any sex toy, its all in how you use it... use it right, great. it can help sex become an even more passionate thing. use it too much, and its just the opposite. suddenly there's no passion.

Luckily, we aren't at that point, and I don't see us getting there anytime soon. but porn is like a drug, really. anything that can become that addictive can definitely have negative effects on you or your loved ones if used poorly, or too much.

I like porn.

For a more in depth answer, I do believe porn has benefits, the main one being, helping people become more comfortable about the prospect of their own sexuality.
Another one being, helping people discover what fetishes they have. If it weren't for porn I wouldn't know that I have... a lot.

If it's in moderation it's alright with me. When you think about it it doesn't do much harm unless there are other circumstances about it or you're watching it too much.

Captcha; which one is hardest. lol what?

I don't watch porn, I have a girlfriend. I know that sounds like a typical douchey answer, but seriously. I don't need dozens (if not hundreds in some cases) of naked people having sex to get me sexually aroused. My girlfriend does that fine.
Leaving aside all the ethical, moral, and sometimes legal issues, I see pornography as superfluous.
I don't think it shouldn't exists or that it's "the devil trying to corrupt the good little boys and girls!" but I don't need it. It has no point in my life; and (now this is where I push an envelope) I think that anyone in a serious committed relationship has no need for it either.
Someone else said it already, but I want to say it again. I own absolutely everythin I need to cook myself a burger at any time of day I choose. I still drive to burger king to get a burger a bunch though. Sometimes some cheap and easy gratification is a nice change of pace.

Anyone who argues that mainstream porn isn't degrading and sexist is crazy. I cannot honestly believe that anyone with a respectful, healthy attitude towards women would produce, direct, sell, or watch Cum Hungry Bitches 12 without feeling a little uneasy inside. There's something to be said for fantasy, but not when it trades in very real objectification and degradation.

The pizza guy can't fuck his way out of everything.
YOU clearly have no idea how the world works.
You can fuck your way out of anything (provided you are sleazy, good and attractive enough - possibly on a supernatural level). One then wonders; Why doesn't he just go into prostitution?

I don't watch or care about porn but I don't see why it would be such a bad thing. I'm of the mind that it adds jobs to the job-pool or whatever you think of it as. Granted some would say the work is a pain in the ass.

what about weird fetishes people have like urine, poo,BDSM,S&M,shemales etc... could that stuff be harmful??
*incoming TMI*

Speaking as someone who's had a BDSM fetish since I was a young/mid-teenager (and indulged in that applicable genre of pornography for about that long) I can say that no, it isn't harmful. If anything it's actually pretty informative and, helpful especially when it comes to different types of ties and whatnot. Maybe I'm not so much a fetishist though as I am a hobbyist since I'm really only interested in the tying up part of the films...

Of course it all depends on the person watching though. Some people, like me, will watch it and want to apply the knowledge learned with a consenting partner. Other people will watch and want to try it with the first person they find on the street. Most people will just masturbate and move on.
