No, a hundred times no! Portals mechanics could be used in a new game, but a sequel should not be made, at least not directly. Things don't need sequels constantly.

Portal is a great game and Still Alive is awesome.

Or I understand that it is horribly overrated and that the actual good parts of the game are overshadowed by the Still Alive/Cake is a Lie bullshit.

Portal is a great game, but everyone says it is good for all of the wrong reasons.

Portal was a really interesting game, but it has zero replay value. It's still kind of fun to re-hear the crazy dialogue and stuff, but it's definitely not a game I go back to. I'd be all over a sequel though.

Portal 2 wouldn't surpass the original.
The original had...er...originality (sorry, the old mental thesaurus is a bit banjaxed at the moment), and a sequel would be devoid of that. It'd also suffer from what I like to call "Metal Gear Solid 2 Syndrome" where its fanbase would expect some sort of messianic masterpiece - inexorably leading to disappointment and forums being inundated with variations on "zomg portl 2 woz shit lolz".

I'd like to see a sequence in Half-Life 2: Episode 3 where your man stumbles upon Chell's corpse, still holding the portal gun, and subsequently uses it to help his mission.

On topic: I can't wait for this game to come out. If Valve really takes a hint, they'll give it more than 15 hours of gameplay story. The first just wasn't nearly long enough.

I actually disagree - portal was a great length. 15 hours is enough so the game stay fresh and new throughout the main storyline, plus the advanced maps add a LOT to the gameplay, so do the achievements.

I'm a big fan of main storylines being epicly cool and about 10-15 hours long, then having a ton of content to expand the game for those that want more, everyone wins!

I see my mistake, (it's fixed now) I meant 15 hours in the main playthrough, not total gameplay. I see your point, but I finished the main storyline in about 6 hours. For me, that is a bit unsatisfying.

Portal 2= Good Idea.
It could be ruined if it wasn't worked on as hard as the original.
