I'm currently planning on buying Portal 2, and I was going to get it for the PS3. Unfortunately, do to the PSN being down with no indication on when it will be back up, I'm actually reconsidering what version I should get.

On one hand, I can be able to play co-op as soon as I get the game for the 360, on the other hand, if I don't get the PS3 version, I won't be able to get the one on Steam for free on the off-chance I do get a computer powerful enough to play it. (Hence why I didn't ask whether I should get it on the PC or not.)

So what do you guys think? And please, don't spoil the game.

360, for the sole purpose that PS is currently dealing with a GIANT cluster fuck.

I'd say PS3, since once the PS3's online has been sorted out you'll be able to play with PC gamers (it has cross-platform multiplayer between PS3 and PC).

Yes if they're not to busy thumbing their noses at you for being on a console.

I don't know. There's no indication of how much longer the PS3 network will be down - although I'd imagine that it'll be back up in the next week or so - and functionally, the xbox version is much the same as the PS3. I got the xbox version, although it's really up to you.

Get it on PS3. There's no question. PSN isn't going to be offline forever and the 360 version is largely inferior. Portal 2 doesn't even require a good computer to run either. You might as well try it on whatever computer you have atm.

It still uses the source engine which really runs well on my mid range laptop.

So go the PS3 version. I don't even own one and I got it on PS3.

Haven't tried Portal 2 on this thing, but Portal 1 runs completely fine on the 12" Asus Eee. Portal 2 has pretty much the same specs and is technically running on the same engine without seemingly a lot of enhancement (you might have to really, really bump the graphics down, but I mean seriously), and was heavily optimized to allow it to run with as little system load as possible. It's actually really interesting listening to the developer commentary when you hit the paint areas, because the paint blobs basically broke the whole "optimization" thing at first and they put a *lot* of work into fixing it.

Hm. I might actually install Portal 2 on this computer and try it, since now I'm interested to know if it works...

Oddly enough my HP Pavilion plays portal 2 smoother than the first one. Work that one out.

My specs.
Intel i5-something a rather
4GB Ram
1GB Dedicated Geforce Graphics

If you're just going to rent it, 360.

If you're going to buy it PS3 all the way.

Eventually the network will be back up, and the 360 isn't even supporting steam. Plus Gabe practically said they were going to make the 360 version more shittier.0o

Ps3, you get a free PC copy and any future DLC (if there is any) will be free because of steamworks.

PS3, just so you can get the free Steam version (technically, two Steam versions: Windows and Mac).

PS3, Valve itself says it is the superior version. Plus Steam integration, and a free copy for the PC.
The current clusterfuck will be solved and PSN will go up again this week (probably with another huge security firmware update along with it).
