Interesting point. Was the cake ever given? Was there ever a picture of cake? An actual video picture taken of the cake so that Chell could see it? Its a metaphor, for the both of them are that much the same. Im not saying anything its a lie, im proposing a theory off of Portal, and proposing how much free time I have.

Yes, there was a cake. Just because Chell didn't see the cake doesn't mean it didn't exist. But that's another reason why your comparison makes no sense. Up until the end of the game the player doesn't think the cake is real because you never see it. But we all know the Bible is real. We've all seen the Bible.

The OP isn't saying that the bible doesn't exist, more like the bible is a great big lie.

Because I've seen Atheists ignore every other environmental factor to tell a religious person that they're wrong, stupid and ignorant. They could be in a room that's on fire. The path could have a corridor filled with naked clowns killing each other with crossbows, but I've seen Atheists that would ignore all that if they found someone else was religious, just to tell them how wrong they are and how they should embrace the light and the truth of Science and logic.

Atheist fanatics are just as bad as religious fanatics. There's the same level of illogical hatred there. Don't EVER fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

Religious people can't prove their religion.
Atheists can't prove Atheism.

I have seen the quote many times, the problem is it is complete bollocks. The ability to slap inverted commas around a statement does not make that statement any more or less stupid or intelligent.

To claim that others are atheist unless they believe in every single god that has ever been mentioned in any religious text ever is a little.... silly.

I agree with your premise that the quote can be used as an atheist metaphor.
However rather than 'the Bible is a lie' as you suggest; I would use 'heaven is a lie' because the Bible would not be the fantastic prize at the end, just the instruction manual.

Side note, Atheism is a lie. Everything you didn't believe in is true, and your nihlistic views were the lie.

Dont skim and read the whole thing. Im trying to promote a version of thinking, not atheism. And its a random thought that I got while I was at school, but it can be considered a nice metaphor for all the atheists out there.
