Well as disbelief is the rejection of belief and denial is a statement in opposition of another.
But it's not disbelief. It's a belief that God doesn't exist (see your link). Therefore it's not a rejection of belief, it's the embrace of another. Which just happens to be the denial of something's existance.
Atheism isnt a belief its a lack of belief. If all other things believe then the thing that doesnt is a lack of belief.

Atheists are just people... the very fact we have to announce our lack of belief in any "God" is a shame but thats the game we play. People believe in Peter Pan, Santa Claus, Jesus Christ and Flying Carbohydrate Monsters... I dont...

After all, everyone is Atheist... I just happen to believe in one less "God" than you.

Also, come on... the defenition of Atheism ISNT "Denying the existance of any Deity", so no... you didnt blow my mind, you made it blatantly clear you are one of three things... possibly all:

1) So bias that you will actively change the facts to suit your needs.

2) Ignorant of definitions, yet still willing to tell everyone about it.

3) Trolling... hard.

Good day.
Holy cr-

"Everyone is atheist"? Wow... just... wow...

Atheism is denying the existance of God/Gods and saying religion is false.

If you just lack belief but are open to the possibility, you're agnostic.
Stop, just stop. Its quite clear you dont know what I am quoting so lets just leave it there.

And no, the definition of Atheism isnt "denying the existance of God/Gods and saying religion is false."

Its "The absence of belief in the existence of deities"... Dont give the man credence by agreeing with his "denial" bull.
Well i know what you are quoting. And it's a shit quote.

He's saying you just need to respect people's beliefs. I can't say "ALL MUSLIMS ARE BAD BECAUSE OF 9/11!" (Sadly, some people do say that.) Just respect that people have their own beliefs.
THANK YOU!
I am glad at least a few people understand what I wrote.

You could put about anything in for "cake", and it will make no more sense or no less sense.
These are my thoughts:
Religious people can't prove their religion.
Atheists can't prove Atheism.
Now, let's just respect other people's opinions and go about our merry lives, without trying to convince people you are right and they are wrong. okay?
1) The world is founded on religion and its absurdities. No atheist can avoid religious law.
2) Religion causes hatred and murder to this day. Why should an atheist respect that?
Sorry for the slow response, TF2 was calling :)

1)I will not get in an argument with you over this.
2)Please see my other points.

All you see is "Religious people can't prove their religion.
Atheists can't prove Atheism."
What does it say right under it? hmmm, let me see...
"Now, let's just respect other people's opinions and go about our merry lives, without trying to convince people you are right and they are wrong. okay?"
But you didn't answer his question. Why should we respect the Crusades, 911, or many of the other religious wars and deaths, caused by religion. Thats the question he is asking, there is no debate over it. Just a question.
*sigh*
You are arguing to no one, I never even took sides in this pointless debate, I merely said the truth. And then you go off, trying to argue with me, when I don't even have a view different than you.
I merely stated that we should all mind our own business, AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!
If people stopped trying to force their views (either theist or otherwise), we wouldn't have all these wars being fought over religion.
And by applying your own standards to science as you apply them to religion, then science is even worse, without science and technology, we wouldn't be able to kill millions of people in less than an instant with atomic bombs.

Hmm, I guess anyone who wasnt atheist would think so... but here is the full quote:

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." ? Stephen Roberts

He's saying the the cake acting like a motivator to attempt to trick Chell into doing what GLaDOS wanted. The Bible uses motivational stories to get people to follow the word of god. While I applaud the effort, all it really shows is that people with power use motivators to control people's actions.

Yes, we know the quote. The problem is the quote is crap. As we have proved to you (and you have proved to yourself), an atheist is someone who believes there is no god. If someone believes in a god they can't be an atheist.

The ability to put quotes around a sentence doesn't really make it any more credible.

That's what we're arguing! That's what all these links are about! You're wrong, ACCEPT IT. What you are describing is agnostic.

http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/agnostic?view=uk

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/agnostic

They don't believe in God because they don't know. An atheist BELIEVES that there is NO God/s. Atheism is a belief. Agnosticism is the lack of belief.
Sadly this is unacceptable.

It's a statement to show that theists deny gods just as atheists do, but they simply don't accept one god arbitrarily.

But that doesn't make them atheists does it? So the "I contend we are both atheists" part of it makes it daft. The quote can be rewritten thusly:-

"You don't believe in Jove, but you believe in Jehova, therefore, I contend you are an atheist."

Now, does that sound stupid? Or am I a handbag on a pool table?

I guess my post was a bit harsher than it should have been, i can see the point that is trying to be made... but its still flawed, depending on who the quote is directed at of course. The way that it was rephrased into "we are all atheists..." just doesn't make sense.

I'm not denying the existance of any Gods. I thought I made that quite clear. Just because I don't believe in them doesn't mean they can't exist. I wish the more hardcore atheists could say that.
So then why does one god garner special treatment over the others?

The quote is meant to show the irrationality of denying all gods but one.

I don't dismiss other Gods. I am open to being wrong. So I am no atheist by any stretch.
So you are willing to accept you are "wrong" when someone presents you with fiction?
