Portal was alright to play once (all of the challange and shock value of the comedy disappears after you know what happens) but loses it's appeal fast.
I played it through once, thought it was good and went to play it again...found it mind numbingly boring and easy the second time through.

As long as you don't let the "fans" (I mean meme artists... streetmemes? Anyway...) get in the way of it, it is a very compelling game.
The advanced levels alone are an incredible game, and with the orange box package this game is as cheap as *shudder* PEGGLE.

Yeah, I enjoyed the game, although the jokes about the game have been done to death.

But saying that, I have lost many, many nights trying to get all the achievements... as far as I'm concerned, all the achievements is a virtual impossibility

Played it through once, then did most of the challenges and a couple of mods. I wouldn't say it was the best game of that year. Bioshock and Half Life Ep 2 make good rivals for it imo. Even Halo 3 held my attention longer. Orange Box as a whole however... now that's a package!
Haven't played the full version (I don't have an XBox360 and upgrading my PC for the sake of gaming is something I resist with the fervor and determination of a mule standing in recently-dried concrete), but I have played the very unofficial 2D flash version (as recommended by Scott Ramsoomair of VGCats), and it's pretty fun.
