Everyone loves Portal - I don't think it's news.
Played it ages ago. I recommended this to my brother who also loved it.

The only place I see people 'joking' about it is on line. It's not even funny when shared. It's ruined for people who've yet to play the game every time it's mentioned.

The only thing I would change in Portal is to give more free-roaming. I love working out new ways to use and abuse the Portals, and having a level or two where I can just go nuts and do all kinds of mad things would be great for me.

...I think the above can be summarised as "I need to download Gary's Mod".

The good points:
1) Very original system of puzzles.
2) GLaDOs is funny at times.

Bad points:
1) Too many fanboys randomly spewing quotes from the game, including ones that really aren't funny. I really don't see anything funny in the whole "TEH CAEK WAS A LIE!!1" meme. In fact, it's more repulsive than a monkey turned inside-out.
2) Too darned easy.
3) Rather short and repetitive. Make a portal, fall on this/jump on that, exit the room, repeat.

All in all, it's nowhere near as good as everyone says it is, in my opinion.

Haven't gotten round to completing it (even though it's damnass short) but it is a really fun game.

I personally think it's 3-4 hours of apsolute gaming perfection. It's quite simply genius.

It is rather anoying that people continue to quote is constantly. Everyone knows "the cake is a lie" phrase, which kind of spoils it for thoughs who haven't played it.

I love portal, and if you get it on PC, there are some good mods and map packs floating about, making it last a hell of a lot longer.

I loved Portal. I picked up the Orange Box somewhere around Feburary last year and I have to say I still list it as one of my all time favorite games. As much as I loved the humor and puzzles and whatnot, I can't say I enjoy replaying it.

It's not that there's anything wrong with Portal, but I feel the same way about every other puzzle game I've played. It's like drawing lines through the same maze over and over when you already know the correct path. Once the solution is revealed there's really no reason to continue. (Except maybe in Portal's case for GLaDOS's dialog.)

Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy the act of solving puzzles more than executing them.

A new story would make it better. However HL2:Ep3 might see us visiting somewhere similar.

I found it pretty fun, though the puzzles in during the first story are pretty easy. I really didn't get the satisfaction that everyone seems to get from it...
But I Can't wait to try the Advanced stuff.

Oh, and a side question...Was anyone else completely freaked out when you went behind the walls? Probably because of all the horror/zombie/apocolypse games I play, but for some reason everytime I see or am in a(n) abandoned/rusty/fallen down structure or building (in game) I tend to freak out and think that somethings going to get me.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Yeah, freaked me out too.

And I thought the game was pretty hard, especially in the latter half.
