when i was 6 i saw something that BLEW MY MIND!!! Forever Red in this episode of power rangers all the red rangers teamed up and it was amazing it felt like i had stumbled into i shouldn't be watching because of how crazy it was. years later came The Day of the Doctor. now keep in mind i love The Day of the Doctor it was pretty awesome, but i did not feel the same spine chilling amazement as i was for Forever Red. so i want to know what other people who have seen both think.

I despise Doctor Who, and I love Power Rangers, so I'm going to go with Forever Red.

Pretty much this. Even though Forever Red had loads of behind the scenes issues and got a load of cool shit cut. Seriously, they were going to have Megazord fights and stuff but the execs were like 'HELL NAW, we gotta sell toys so let's just have Cole kill Serpentera on his new flying motorbike!'

Seriously, Wild Force blows. Once a Ranger kinda sucked too, Operation Overdrive was the worst thing since tofu.

BUT ALL YOU KIDS BEST GET READY FOR THE LEGENDARY WAR.

I religiously watched power rangers a young girl, had a load of action figures too.

I watched all the John Pertwee DrWho then the new Christopher Eckleston (fuck you Chris) and then a little of the David Tennant stuff. I had a brief interest with the other guy who wore a fez but I couldn't stick it.

So now as a young man I'm not really into either anymore but I'd prefer to watch an episode of the power rangers rather than the Dr's kill no aliens crap.

Gotta go with Power Rangers here... since I don't watch Doctor Who.

Forever Red was certainly a good team-up episode, but my favorite of the bunch is definitely To the Tenth Power, from Lost Galaxy.

Forever Red for me as well, cause I have not watched Dr Who.

and if you though Forever Red was epic.

prepare for a blown mind, cause this is how you do an 'anniversary celebration' and how you do it right.

And it is AWESOME.

*sad face* I didn't watch Power Rangers and the only real contact I had with it was the Mega Morphers that you could combine to a giant robot. Then a year later I got an actual giant robot toy called a Transformer (Unicron toy was the bomb)

Anyway, I'll go with Doctor Who on this one. Definitely, much more into that

I can't stand Power Rangers anymore.
After I saw the original series, before it was butchered into the Americanized version...
I just couldn't go back.

So, Doctor Who, for me.

That trench coat is so awesome! Which Sentai series is that guy from? I MUST KNOW!

OT: I'm not an especially big fan of either show. When I was little my parents didn't want me to watch Power Rangers. They said it was too violent. And I didn't start really paying anything beyond cursory attention to anything related to Doctor Who until about the last year or so.

But since of the two I know much more about Power Rangers (Thanks to Linkara and his History of Power Rangers videos!) I'd have to go with Forever Red, mostly cause it looks pretty damn awesome from what I've seen of it.

I'll be honest I've never watched a Doctor Who episode, but I did grow up around the era of Power Rangers. And I hated them, absolutely. Still dislike them, but the hate has eroded now to just not really liking much and not getting the whole lure or attraction, the choreography was bad enough to make me cringe (WWE looks more realistic). Ah well, I will say the Doctor because I've got a thing for British media, and I'd probably like it if I had time to watch them en masse (I can't jump in the middle or end of a series, no matter how easy it is to pick up).

I'd be wary of judging the quality of things that you saw at different stages of growing up based on your emotional reaction at the time. There is a reason everyone thinks cartoons from their childhood were amazing, and that anything on now is vastly inferior. That reason is that they are no longer children, and are comparing how much they liked kids shows as a kid, with how much they like them as an adult.

I think I stopped watching power rangers before the episode you're talking about, but looking back at power rangers it is bad to the point of humour. I'm giving this one to the doctor.

I'll just put it out there that Power Rangers actually improved since MMPR, no matter how big people's nostalgiaboners get.

The guy in the trench coat isn't from Super Sentai. He is Haruto from Kamen Rider Wizard. The picture at the start isn't from the movie but from Super Hero Taisen Z, the second crossover between Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. The guy to the left is Kamen Rider Beast, also from Wizard, and the one to the right is King, from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, (Power Rangers Dino Charge) and the far left is the yellow and red rangers from GoBuster (currently no PR adaption).

OT: I have to give to PR. Day of the Doctor was very meh. It had its points but just didn't measure up in the end. Now if I could chose Boukenger's anniversary movie I would ( I don't count Gokaiger because that is an entire season of crossover so its not fair to the others.)

Despite what everyone said, Forever Red was a nightmare filled with discontinuity and bad productions issues.

...Can't I like them both? Why is that never an option? And why am I the only one asking this?

Forever Red only works on a nostalgia level. It's not that good except you get to see classic Ranger. And that was cool, but I think I'd rather watch Day of the Doctor. Even if it was also disappointing

Depends on which series and what you're looking for. Several of the post-MMPR series bored me because they tried to be more serious. Which, I might add, doesn't always mesh with the theme of the respective Super Sentai series. So you get overdramatic American footage mixed with overly goofy Japanese footage. I don't know. Some of them really were more enjoyable. Others, not so much. I'd say the quality has shifted dramatically over the years.

It's a 'which do you like more' thread. I don't think there's any requirement you hate the other.

In Space, Time Force, and RPM were all really, really good. Even though the stories were a bit more complex, and RPM on a whole was just awesome. The first black-ranger centered team, the villains origin story was cool, and the fact that they actually make fun of and explain the whole spandex/random explosions thing was a smart move on their part.

Just avoid Turbo, Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive like the plague.

It was better than Once a Ranger... *shudders*
Haven't watched that though, since Time Force was the Last one that I watched "properly". What's so bad about it? Can;t find anything about discontinuity or controversy as massive as Forever Red in the wiki
