One of my eagerly-awaited upcoming games, WWE '12 [sub](don't judge me)[/sub] has recently announced that if you pre-order the game, you get The Rock added to the game's roster.

This got me thinking...you really care enough about pre-order bonuses to actually pre-order the game just to get them?

Cause personally, I really don't. The pre-order stuff is just pointless extras, really. There's nothing there that would make the game any more enjoyable if I had it. Just like with WWE '12. I'm never going to play as The Rock, so I don't need to pre-order just to have him taking up a space on the already-expansive roster full of guys I actually do want to play as.

It depends on the game and the bonus. One wrestler? Not enough. Some preorders offer way more. Chacacters, locations, soundtracks, bonus movies or whatever.

Also I might preorder to go to the store at opening pick it up and get playing without any bullshit or the chance of having to wait for more to come in.

I care about them if I'm overly into the game and, most importantly for me, if they're something tangible that I can hold and admire in the real world. (within reason of course, the Skyrim collectors is just ridiculously overpriced lol)

If it's just an ingame bonus or extra feature of some sort I don't bother as I really can't justify the extra $30 or so for possibly less than 1% more content than already exists in the game.

If I'm going to buy a game anyway, I might as well pre-order it for the goodies.

Sure, that early access Uncharted 3 beta card I got for pre-ordering inFamous 2 was completely useless, since everyone had early access to the beta for being on Playstation+ (because of the hacking).

Depends what they are, and whether I really want the game. If I want the game enough to get it on release, I always pre-order. Otherwise I'll wait a few weeks for a price drop.

I do care but the thing is when I'm short on money I can't get the game or end up missing out on what every one else has I think Pre-Order bonuses should be released as DLC about 6 months after the games come out and the hypes gone down.

I despise retailer exclusive bonuses, but I don't really care about the rest.

I usually only pre-order a game if it's a bit cheaper on steam.
Any other bonuses are neat but nothing required.

Yeah, these in particular are annoying. Why should we have to go out of our way ro pre-order or buy a game at a specific place just to get a certain bonus? It's just stupid.

Especially since when it comes to games I want, the best of those bonuses seem to be reserved for either only American stores, or stores I can't really get access to. The places I regularly use get nothing, and it pisses me off.

Depends on the bonus on offer.

Some games have really good offers while others not so much.

If it's a game i've been waiting some time for i'll pre order no matter the bonus though (Skyrim i'm looking at you ... with a quick glance at Space Marine).

Option C: It all depends on the nature of the bonus. What I mean is, is the bonus all inclusive or do I have to pre-order the game from a specific retailer or, is it only available from one source? If the bonus is offered at more than one retailer then is it the same thing everywhere or do different places have different items?

I'm going to preorder Saint's Row the Third from Play-N-Trade since it looks like Professor Genki will be available from every retailer.

I want Arkham City but every retailer offers different bonuses. Preorder from Best Buy and you get Robin with the Red-Robin costume. If you preorder from Play-N-Trade, you get a mini-flashlight (no word on which skins).

Preordering Skyrim from anyone will give you the burlap map.

etc, etc, etc.

I only preorder sometimes. I haven't in a while and I think Saint's Row the Third will be the first I've actually preordered this year...unless I do Skyrim first...

I don't really see the point in not prr-ordering something you know you're going to buy anyway. It's not like you're paying more than you would if you just walked in and bought the game on day 1. It can help you budget out the expense if you have trouble doing so yourself. It also ensures yourself a copy (yes, the new CoD game isn't going to sell out but for smaller titles it is very possible that the store will only get 3 or 4 copies more than they have pre-orders so a sell out is possible).

I think it depends if we're talking "pre-order" or "all signing all dancing edition". Since i normally purchase from amazon it's actually cheaper to pre-order games early then waiting for closer to the release date to see what goods they plan to throw in if you do. If i really like the look of a gameill pre-order it. If I don't then i won't. The pre-order goodies mean very little to me unless i'm already in love with the game

for example: I went out of my way to make sure i pre-ordered DA2 before the cut off for the Sig edition so i could get the mask amount of content on relaease day. and i wasn't disappointed.

edit: Could u edit the poll to include "depends on the game" as i suspect that would more clearly represent alot of people feelings then a simple yes or no

It's ok. I'm looking forward to WWE 12 too. I can't really say yes or no to the poll question because it really depends on what the pre-order content is. Cody Rhodes is my favorite, so if they didn't put him in the game and saved him for extra content (Like they did with WWE Superstars), I'd probably pre-order. But I don't care much for The Rock, so I wouldn't bother with it.

Oops. I mean WWE Allstars. See? I'm confusing the show with the game. :p

Sometimes the pre-order bonus is really good. Like with L.A. Noire at some places- you got an extra case. Or Halo CE: Anniversary, you get a new skull that can end hilariously either in your favor or with your death.

But certain things, like Skyrim's map... pointless.

Depend on the bonus itself however I tend to go for the non game bonus ie a figure or something phyical than a ingame bonus itself. The game is still fine without that bonus as they are simply minor extras.

I preordered Skyrim for the nice map that's supposed to come with it. Basically I did it out of nostalgia for my younger days when RPGs used to come with nice cloth maps or little guide books. Now you have to pay Prima, Brady, or whoever for a guide.
