One of my eagerly-awaited upcoming games, WWE '12 [sub](don't judge me)[/sub] has recently announced that if you pre-order the game, you get The Rock added to the game's roster.

This got me thinking...you really care enough about pre-order bonuses to actually pre-order the game just to get them?

Cause personally, I really don't. The pre-order stuff is just pointless extras, really. There's nothing there that would make the game any more enjoyable if I had it. Just like with WWE '12. I'm never going to play as The Rock, so I don't need to pre-order just to have him taking up a space on the already-expansive roster full of guys I actually do want to play as.
It's ok. I'm looking forward to WWE 12 too. I can't really say yes or no to the poll question because it really depends on what the pre-order content is. Cody Rhodes is my favorite, so if they didn't put him in the game and saved him for extra content (Like they did with WWE Superstars), I'd probably pre-order. But I don't care much for The Rock, so I wouldn't bother with it.

Oops. I mean WWE Allstars. See? I'm confusing the show with the game. :p
God knows if WWE Superstars was more like WWE Allstars they might put it back on TV again.

And I think it'd be weird and stupid not to include Cody Rhodes in the full roster and have him as extra. I know your point wasn't specifically about him, it was about "if my favourite wrestler was a pre-order" (for me personally that would entail Christian and Kane being bonuses) but I'm just rambling.

I do agree with you on that point. If they leave out people on the active roster that I really like to have them as bonuses then I'd pre-order but The Rock? I'm a fan of his but I'm not going to pre-order the game just so I can have him there.

Side-note: I hope they don't have people I like having models based on out-dated looks. Justin Gabriel better have a beard damn it! And I'd like for Christian to wear a shirt during his entrance this year; they've been getting that wrong for the past 2 games at least.

don't care about them
preorder bonuses won't make me buy a game if it isn't on my must have list

They got Cody's entrance wrong in pretty much every game. I'm sad that we'll never get to see the "fake mirror" effect ever. Now that he's all American Psycho and stuff.

The only reason pre-order stuff exists for that game is because of people like my kid brother who boo at John Cena and cheer for Zack Ryder. Chances are, he's going to get the pre-order, the spoiled brat.

Yeah the lack of the digital mirror in 2011 annoyed me. That was one of the coolest things about the Dashing character.

Your brother boos Cena? Lucky bastard, mine cheers him. Oh, and my brother is 23 years old. I hope to god he only does it to annoy me though.

I never, never, never, pre-order games. It feels like I'm jumping the gun in concluding that the game will be good. I'm a firm believer in the "try before you buy" policy.

Dad taught us to boo the good guys and cheer for the bad guys. But I've been drooling over Cody since I was fifteen. The fact that he acknowledged that he was dashing just made it even better. Bringing the Rock back was an ok idea but WWE hasn't been on top of their game as of late. They just let go of Melina, for crying out loud.

Well ... where I live, there's only 2 game shops, so I don't have that "Different retailers, different pre-order bonuses" issue.

If you're talking about retailer-spicific bonuses, then I don't agree with them, they just divide the customers and make it a bit unfair.

I think that every pre-order should have a little bonus, since pre-order is already cheaper than paying on release day, I don't see the issue in having something a little extra. It's like the publishers are saying "Hey, you want this cheaper version? Okay, well here's some free stuff in addition to spending less money" which I am a huge fan of.

To me it all depends on the game. Some games I'm happy just to buy plain, but there are a few that I have to have some extras with. Lol. It also really depends on what the bonus' are.

If I want the game enough I'll pre order, bonuses or not. Though if I did, I'd feel pretty annoyed by the different pre-order bonuses different stores gave.

Not to mention Chris Masters and Vladimir Kozlov.

My parents never really 'taught' me and my brother anything about wrestling. To them, it was just some weird thing we'd lose interest in. I did not. I just latched onto whoever I find interesting or entertaining (or hot, in certain cases [sub]*cough*Justin Gabriel*cough*Evan Bourne*cough*[/sub]) and cheer for them regardless of if they're heel or face, or if they get into a slump (hence why I still cheer for Kane despite being mostly directionless).

This has led to many odd choices of who I like. My brother can't understand why I like Goldust, or William Regal, or the Miz. Just like I don't get why he likes R-Truth, Mark Henry and John Cena.

It pisses me off more than anything else when a multi-player game gets a pre-order bonus, usually an overpowered mega weapon that ruins the experience for everyone else
just do it how Capcom did with Lost Planet 2, giving pre-orders the first map pack for free
it was a pretty good deal

It depends. If the preorder bonus is something that does not affect gameplay in any meaningful way, then no. If it is, then I very definitely do care.

I'm pretty sure that Gabriel is gay. :(

Funny story about Evan Bourne. Before he was a superstar he was an exterminator who moonlighted as a jobber. My brother actually got to meet him (before he was in the WWE) when he came to our house to kill some termites.

I started watching so my brother and I could actually have something in common. And then Cody magically appeared. <3

If Gabriel is gay then... perfect. Now to wait for Smackdown to be in the UK, get myself a ticket and stealth my way into a locker room *shifty eyes*

And I'm actually jealous of your brother. I'd love to meet Evan Bourne. Though I'd probably be a nervous wreck because I'm not good talking to cute guys. Either that or I'd be unable to meet him through not trusting myself around him.

I remember when I started watching. The 2000 Royal Rumble. And it was awesome. Aside from that business with Mae Young... *shudder*

I do care but the thing is when I'm short on money I can't get the game or end up missing out on what every one else has I think Pre-Order bonuses should be released as DLC about 6 months after the games come out and the hypes gone down.
I agree with this. Permanently excluding people from content just cuz they didn't pony up the cash early enough is ridiculous.

I hope Cody is at Comic-Con in October. Then again, my boyfriend will probably punch him so maybe that's not a good idea.

Mae Young is WWE's Betty White.

Maybe I'll sneak into the locker room next time Smackdown is in town. I'll bring a camera. :p

PS. I'm only upset that Gabriel is gay because I'm straight.

If it's like BF3's map pack, yes I do. If it's just a hat or something I don't care.

I care about certain preorder content. some games I can tear through in the course of a day or 2 and if the preorder content has more stages, then yeah I go for it. I want nothing to do with art books or soundtracks, action figures, or stupid stuff like an N-7 patch that is apparently coming with Mass Effect 3. I like collectible statues and a good amount of DLC that is available to preorder customers at least a month before it's put on XBLA or PSN. Even the relica of Cole's carrier bag from InFamous was cool. I'll be getting a motorcycle soon and that bag will be helpful.

I look at them as an added bonus for a game I was already going to pre-order.

What I don't understand is why the publishers are so intent on us pre-ordering. The cost is generally the same, so they aren't making any more money. It's just a little sneak peak of what their sales might look like.

I'm not a marketing guy, but knowing roughly how well a game is going to do a month before it's actually released doesn't seem to be worth half the effort they put into some of these things. On the consumer end it's a bit of an affront when some of the stuff is more effective in-game than it should be.

I do, but only if they're good games. I don't have a problem with pre-ordering though, so it's not like it's a stretch for me to pre-order something.

I pre-order a fuckload of my games. I also get collectors editions quite frequently.

Seeing as we're talking about pre-order's and bonus items, and someone's already mentioned the skyrim collector's, it's shit. Seriously the best part is the "cloth" map (which probably will be made of that shitty, stretchy, synthetic material which feels like lycra) which isn't even exclusive to the collector's.

And it's double the fucking price! What?!

That's madness, I can't believe I actually know people who've pre-ordered the collectors.
