Supposedly sleeping on your back is the "best" position, for some frankly pseudo-scientific sounding reasons about balancing the brain's hemispheres. I've never been able to fall asleep like that though. I always end up in some contorted but comfortable half-twist position before I can fall asleep. What about you lot?

actually, back sleep is one of the worst, especially for the huge chunk of the population with sleep apnea or other snoring problems.

but, i usually start on my left side, then switch to my right around 2-3, then sleep the last few hours on my back.

Eh, I normally move about until I just fall asleep, so I never know what way I am laying >.>
I have no real preference, to be honest >.>

My preferred starting position is on my right side, because I'm used to my girlfriend cuddling against my back, but I tend to roll around a lot. Fortunately, I don't steal the covers when I roll; if I did, and my girlfriend EVER became less blanket-covered, I'd find myself awake, blanket-less, and unable to find a way back into the mound of blankets that my girlfriend had transformed into.

As far as sleeping on my back, I over snore occasionally, but if I do, I'm invariably on my back, and I apparently roll over immediately when elbowed, which is my girlfriends' standard 'anti-snore tactic'.

I did say it sounded psuedo-scientific to me. If my sinuses are bad, I can't even move onto my back without a blinding headache.

Ususally on my left side or on my tummy, unless i'm sharing my bed, then I usually attempt to use them like a teddy bear

An inane poll, but back. I don't move at all when I sleep and always fall asleep and wake up in the same position on my back. I do occasionally snore, according to my fiancé.

I only responded because I think sleep is fascinating.

I sleep on either side. I imagine if you watched, I'd appear to be the most restless person in the world with all the tossing and turning I do, but I sleep like a rock.

I sleep in the curled up question mark form, it's just comfortable for me, but probably not all that great for my back.

Uh... A poll on this? It totally depends on what position I lay down in when I go to bed. If I'm tired as shit I just throw myself into bed, face down. If I would guess in what position I sleep in the most, it'd be left or right. I don't like any side more than the other. My favourite position would be on my belly with my face buried into the pillow though.

Either on my right side, left side or my front (With my head either off the matress, facing left or facing right)

I struggle to get to sleep though (I think there is something on my mind that I need to figure out) so I usually switch between alot of positions trying to get comfortable (Or asleep, which ever comes first)

My preferred position at the moment is on my back. This shifts every once in a while, but now laying on my back feels extremly soothing.
I can't fall asleep while laying on my back however. Don't know why it's like that, but I've never been able to. Always have to roll over to the side to get some shut-eye.

Preferred position? Haha, which one? I'm fairly certain that I rotate during my sleep because I usually wake up in a totally different position then when I started.

So, all of the above?

[sub]I once fell out of a bunk bed in my sleep. Ever since then I've opted for the bottom bunk if the top bunk doesn't have a railing.[/sub]

I prefer to fall asleep on my right side but if it's incredibly cold then I will curl up a lot and stuff the blankets all around me.

Sleeping on the back is supposed to be good for the back afaik, dunno anything about them brainz.

Anyway personally, I sleep on the side... I usually shift about 3-4 times before I fall asleep (it takes me a while, I could never understand people who fall asleep in less than 5 minutes), which side I'm facing... well I'd say usually to the right as that's where my window is, resulting in faster waking up in the morning.

Dunno what the "curl up like a question mark" is... I often curl up, definitely if it's winter/cold like now (sadly the central heating sucks balls around here and is turned off at night >.< ).

For me its my right or left side, lying on my belly just feels uncomfortable and for some reason I get nightmares when I sleep lying on my back

On my belly, but according to other people, I immediately switch to my back the minute I fall asleep.
