I've prestiged only once, since it gave me more challenges to finish as well as an extra Custom Class-slot.
But after that, I don't see the benefit of continuing to prestige. Sure you get even more Class-slots, but I certainly don't want them enough to start over from zero again.

So yeah, do it once, and then play it solely for fun (if you weren't already, that is).

I never prestige in the CoD games.
Why would I throw away all the stuff I spent time unlocking, then get nothing but another huge attempt to unlock it all again?
I think I'll keep my non-prestige rank. And my weapons.

I always prestige. I'm 10th in COD4 (with every challenge completed), WaW and I'm definitely going to make it there again in MW2. I'm a completionist. Go big or go home, right?

Prestige once to get the Prestige Titles for your weapons and Prestige Challenges then don't do it again, it's a pain in the ass, until I get back my WA2000 Thermal Scope with Extended Mags I'm useless in a game of Team Deathmatch... -.-

I stopped at level 50. I got the new launcher. I tested it out in a couple of matches. I then looked at all the stuff still to come and traded the game in for some sweet Arkham Asylum! Loving it!

good choice, it's worth every penny

I do it for the extra custom classes more than anything else...it's nice to be able to have set ups for demolition when you're attacking or defending, and big and small TDM games, etc.

Also, if you sit at 70 with no prestige, the emblem sucks. 1 and 2 are ok, 3 looks like a bird's eye view of a turd, but 4 is alright. Once I finish getting to 4 I'll probably stop for a while, but ultimately, I think I'll keep going up to 10

No. There is not reason to. You get nothing for losing 70 levels worth of work.
