I don't have to pretend, people usually think im a girl until i boldly tell them i'm not.
You too?

I hate when people do that. I may have long hair, but I have a fucking beard! Girls are not generally flat chested with beards >.<

I myself, am somewhat girlish so I can really mess with a man's head.

That's what having a father with a doctors deegree in psychology can teach you.

I tricked a guy in Borderlands by message saying that I was a 16 year old girl willing to go out with him for the most powerfull weapon he had. I left right after he did. I felt REALLY bad... and I found out I couldn't use it unless I was level 71....

So that was my past experince with a female character.
Bwhat?? and dosen't Borderlands have like a level cap of 69 (slightly sexual undercurret ha-ha-haa)
Didn't Gearbox raise the level cap to 71? I never played to the level cap due to boredom
Nope, it's 69, was 58, after The Secret Armory of General Knoxx it was 61 and it was risen to 69 with an update and balance patch after that.

No. I have Aspergers Syndrome (clinically diagnosed, and god do I hate the idiots who make it necessary to say that) and that kind of deception doesn't come naturally to me as a result. I've heard that NTs do this, though. They tend, in my experience, to be very deceptive and untrustworthy, so this doesn't surprise me. If they weren't the kind of losers who would do shit like this, they wouldn't build societies where it works.

I have played female characters in games with exclusive equipment (I'm very partial to the binded set in Demon's Souls, what with its high fire resistance and low weight) or games like Mass Effect where it's a different way to experience the story, but I have never and would never misrepresent my IRL gender to others.
NTs?

I am a girl, but I've never used the fact I am a girl to get a guy to do something for me online. Hell, even IRL, I only ever do it as a joke. But seeing how many guys do it to other guys and seeing how well it works for my female friends in real life, I may have to start relying on my feminine wiles more.
Please don't. Those of us guys who don't turn into a slobbering creep when we find out that a fellow gamer is female would much rather see women (and men for that matter) in games who act like normal, intelligent human beings rather than try to use their sexuality to get whatever they want. Girls who do that are creepy and a little bit sad themselves, just like the guys who fall for it.

I don't trust anyone saying they're female unless I'm going to be meeting them. People lie to troll, to get off sexually, or various other pathetic reasons, and I'm certainly not loosing anything by assuming they're full of shit until they prove otherwise.

I have pretended to be a girl... sort of.
So this MMO buddy of mine was going on a smartass rampage how he would never fall for these pretend "girls", he can always tell it's a dude, blablabla,... so I wanted to test his salt, made a new char of the female form an added a spiffy name.
Didn't take five minutes from joining his party till he was all over me, and I never even said I was a girl, it was so hilarious :D
And he didn't much like it when I recited his pickup lines later that day.

The lesson for you kids, everything on the internets can be faked, and don't be a smartass.

And on an honest MMO forum that top choice would be have 99%.

Never have, never would, understand why it happens but stay way the hell away from people who do it.

Much happier playing with cool people who happen to be dudes or ladies than any number of outspoken "girl gamers" who try and be girls first, gamers second.

I'm a girl whose made male characters in online games before, I usually prefer to depending on the art style or look of the game/character/armor etc. But quite a lot of times, I'd play as a girl, with this girly sounding username and be called a guy constantly, it's annoying.

So I have a question for you, what do you guys think, and have you ever pretended to be female to get things?
If yes, did it work?
If no, would you, given the oppurtunity?
I've played a female quite often, and it's true. You do get a lot of stuff for free, you do get a lot of leeway on how you play the character and you do get hit on.

(That's always funny when you have to explain)

What I would do is say to most women, try playing a completely male character - and make no reference to your gender - and then see how differently you get treated. See how many start telling anti-women jokes, swearing and yelling at you if you're not 100% accurate.

There's a few that will suss - but go with the majority.

Yes I have pretended to be female. Never to get things though, just to mess with people. Mostly on Omegle and chatroulette. I am apparently fairly feminine looking, so I get on cam and guys try hitting on me, both funny and sad really.

I have found that when playing a female avatar, people of both genders treat me better. Hell a girl was offering to give me some avatar mods in Dungeon Fighter Online, (in which you can't pick your gender for most classes) which cost real life money. I have a feminine personality and when people make there own conclusions as to what I look like in real life, they are far more open to me. And in a way it's kind of depressing.

Not as much as I have pretended to be female as I had a female character. In the MMO's people knew I was a he, and I never told anyone anything else. I do it because in my mind I create stories when playing games (even if they have a story already) and sometimes the main character of the story i my head is female, so I play accordingly. Bit weird some may say, but hey, I don't care. It entertains me.
