no i haven't and i wouldn't either, i don't even like playing a female character so pretending to be a girl to get stuff is out of the question.
guys who do that are pretty lame, guys who fall for it even more so.

Nope, not my thing. Have seen guys do it before (and many times seen people who I hope to hell were guys because if they're girls they have some serious self esteem issues) and found it pretty funny tbh. Anyone who seriously thinks that some completely random person on a game is not only a girl but a girl who is suddenly interested enough to send them pictures of titties in return for free shit needs to grow the fuck up.

Anyway, if guys want to do it I have no problem, if someone's fucking dumb enough to fall for it then more fool them, like I said, I find it pretty amusing.

Once in a mmo, but only because i wanted free buffs, he got really chatty after that, but he didn't speak English and i'm terrible at Russian, so thankfully he ran out of stupid questions after a minute and i could get revenge on some shitty mage who kept bothering me.

I did once nearly ten years ago in Everquest. After a few years of the ruse I stopped and haven't looked back.

And based on my 12 years online experience, about 50% of those votes for 'No and I wouldn't' are deceptive.

I used to pretend I was female, though that was before I got into MMOs. I try to avoid it nowadays though, as it just makes me sad. :(

At least when I'm not roleplaying, at any rate.

I'm a bit skeptical of if this actually works though, as I'm a girl who plays, and while I dont make a big deal out of it, the most I've gotten is generally harrassment/unwanted flirting.
Yeah! I've been gaming for years, and no one ever gives me anything cool for being a female gamer. I've never been offered help or free stuff. I can't imagine why a guy would pretend to be a girl online - the most I've ever gotten is stalked. -_-;

Actually, I kind of like the flirting. That's nice. Well, until it turns into the aforementioned stalking....

But really, free stuff? Where's my free stuff? Huh? **crosses arms and waits for free girl stuff**

[sub]In all seriousness, I don't get this. Most girl gamers get little more than verbal abuse. Anyone care to enlighten me?[/sub]
From the look of things, all our free stuff is going to dudes pretending to be slutty.

Yeah I've never got a free ride and those who have helped me have been mates that I have helped back and suchlike.

I kind of think this is a bit of a myth, either that or I don't act slutty enough...or something lol.
Maybe you are just "lucky".

I always play female characters. Due to how i act ingame (how i talk use emotes etc.) a lot of guildies tell me i come across very feminine. Even as bad as people are in my guild for a long time and still think i am a real girl.

I am also a bit overfriendly and chatty. I have been offered free stuff and been hit upon multiple times. Never excepted any free stuff from strangers since it makes me feel like i am whoring myself. Most of the people that hit on me i just told them i wasn't interested(or that i am already taken).

When it comes to MMOs,I've had a rather unique experience, being a transsexual (Male to female) Way back when, I wasn't aware of my own femininity, so I played as male characters. Now, everyone seemed to know I was female before I did (They thought I was a female person playing a male character) That got me some flak, and a whole lot of confusion on my part Fast forward today, while I'm IDing as female, and mid-transition. Now I play as female characters, and ID as female... And... I get even more flak, it's like I'm getting punished for being openly female, and playing games. It's pretty much either getting hit on by kids who are too young to have an inking of what to with a woman, REALLY creepy guys my own age (In the 20-25 range) aggressively hitting on me, or being assaulted with sexist comments which may or may not involve the production of sandwiches...

Having been a transgender support group facilitator, and knowing what I know about transgendered people. I've gotta wonder, are these guys who enjoy playing as female characters for reasons other than exploitation, exploring some sort of fetishistic transvestite side?

Also, not sure if you're all aware, but over 42% of gamers are actually female, so guys, think of how many of those are in hiding as male characters? Think of why they are, they're hiding from all the sexist bullshit, and unwanted advances from a large part of males. So guys, if you're thinking "there are no girls on the internet" then, first off, you'd be outright wrong, and second off, you're scaring them away from ever revealing that fact. If you'd actually like to see more female gamers, then stop shooting yourselves in your collective foots. And to the guys who aren't huge pigs, try to deter these assholes from harassing women (or any group for that matter), it'll do the whole community some good.

Seriously, a little wink and a smile from a girl and a guy would help with practically anything.

Make use of it, dammit! We don't mind!

I've never done it just because when/if I ever get into an MMORPG or some such, my mind never floats to a female character type. I always envision any character I want to make as a guy, I dunno, maybe I'm just not creative, lol.

No, I haven't. It just gives me a weird feeling when people are envisioning me as the opposite sex in real life.
Also, in your poll, how can you pretend to be female if you are a girl?

You cant, which is why I put an extra `No` in there.
