Just the art style kinda puts me off, along with the oversexualization of the girls in anime. It all just puts me off...

There's people with stupid eyes like this.

I'm glad they fixed them for the movie though.

Most of those things are wrong with it. I am mostly annoyed with how in most animes/mangas the women pretend to be all badass and get in the line of fire etc, and then get into trouble so all the men have to go save them without being bothered by it. I'm fine with female fighters/protagonists, but at least do it good. Also women tend to be pretty unintelligent, childish and so poor that they can't afford clothing.

All of the above. I'd say what bugs me the most is 99% of all animes revolve around teenage protagonists. I get that 12-25 is the target demographic but I can not identify with such characters. The problem I find with young protagonists is the get far too melodramatic over trivial shit.

I wish anime would almost go back to that noir-ish era they had in the late 80s early 90s with mature protagonists dealing with mature situations. Last anime I enjoyed was Read or Die movie.
WTB new Wicked Citys and Golgo 13s.

I'd go with 'The People Who are Obsessed with it Turn Me Off'
Actually anime stopped being interesting for me long time ago, since they're almost all the same, very few exceptions are enjoyable to watch, but I did spend my childhood and most of my teenage ages watching that stuff and talking to other people who were obsessed with it. But the more I got to know these 'fans' the more I got totally freaked out by them. It's beyond any kind of fandom I've seen and, no offence if there are some hardcore anime fans on here, but I find the majority of them simply retarded. It might be a side effect, it might be when they all stick together, I am not sure and I don't want to know.

recently I had a thought that anime is kinda like Supernatural - it has good ideas in it, very good even, some pretty original, but the way they do it... Is it for fanservice? Is it for girls obsessed with watching gay men sucking their dicks (which is my opinion is the worst of all)? Or the people who create these stuff go out of ideas, see how retarded SOME of the fans are and please their sick imagination with stupidity. I can't think of a lot of new animes who don't have some, even small hint of yaoi stuff, too much fanservice, total weird randomness that doesn't even make sense or just something we've seen so many times already...

The only problem I have with it is how in some shows they draw the fight scenes out for five episodes. Just two episodes will suffice.

It has got to be all of the above. Anime is just weird, and does not match up to modern animation, for me at least. Sure, some of them look like pieces of moving art, but they still have no humor, bad stories, and stupid characters. Never liked em, never will. Plus, the people who love them are way too obsessive.

For me it's a mix of a lot of these things. Having finished reading/watching Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Fullmetal Alchemist and that kind of thing, I have trouble finding things I can get into.

Most stories are repetitive cliché nonsense with horrible gender stereotypes and bad animation. Either that or it's entirely satisfied to simply pander to one audience.

Also, the stereotypical weeaboo fans bother me. Up to a point it's fun, but there's a line too many people cross (for my particular tastes at least).

I'd have to say I hate the homogenized bullshit that gets pumped out every season which has almost everything in that list. There's rarely any originality like with stuff back in the 80's and 90's. Also the obsessive fandom made me swear off conventions unless I'm selling artwork.

All good animes end at less than 60 episodes. ANYTHING longer than that is terrible. Naruto and Bleach are the epitome of this.

I've never really been into anime, I watched the odd few back in the day, before I even knew what they were called.

They seemed alright but reading through this thread I don't think I'll be watching them any time soon.

Some of those but what has really put me off most anime I have seen is the fact that in my experience, they can never just pick a main villian and run with it. Take DBZ for instance, 1st it was Freeza, then Boo, then Cell and the androids, it just kept going on and on.

Another prime example is Naruto, They went from that water ninja who's name eludes me, to Garra, to that snake guy who was basiclly a ninja form of James Earl Jones from Connan the Barbarian.

I dont hate anime, I quite like some of it but a good percentage is crap* for various reasons.

Same as:

I dont hate movies, I quite like some of them but a good percentage arecrap* for various reasons.

I dont hate written fiction, I quite like some of it but a good percentage is crap* for various reasons.

I dont hate video games, I quite like some of them but a good percentage are crap* for various reasons.

I dont hate (insert genre) music, I quite like some of it but a good percentage is crap* for various reasons.

I dont hate food, I quite like some of it but a good percentage is crap* for various reasons.

I dont hate beer, I quite like some of it but a good percentage is crap* for various reasons.

I dont hate foreign countries, I quite like some of them but a good percentage are
crap for various reasons.

Are we spotting a pattern here people?

Sorry didnt want to ruin anyones unreasoning sterotyping and hating session, carry on, I'll be watching Legend of galactic heroes, suffering through the bad characters, bad animation*, bad music and poor, predictable story line.

*Its really dated, I'll give you that.

I really dislike English dubs. Some are insanely good (Cowboy Bebop comes to mind straight away) but most are not.

A lot of it is said without feeling or the vocal inflections don't seem natural *me shrugs*.

I've never met any hardcore fans/weeaboo's so I must be lucky.

I also think that this counts as a good English dub :D

Anime, or real people acting?
Doesn't seem like a hard choice really.
Then there's voice acting and the rest of it.
I do like Cowboy Bebop though.
