Project Natal has be announced at E3 but with the videos supporting it... it kinda reminds me of the wii.

The thing I loved about the 360 was that it in my mind was keeping gaming ..well gaming. Now With "Project Natal" I feel that Microsoft has kinda gone Gimmicky, and for a long while to come every game company will be making gimmicky games to support Natal.

Well the poll question is this

Do you think that this could change the xbox and its games for good?

Yes, it could, but it's another step in the right direction. The ends will eventually justify the means I think.

Even when you think of the wii as failed you have to admit that it pushed gaming closer to virtual reality. So will Project Natal.

Man, I posted that in 3 threads now, cookies for the one who finds all of them

Project Natal is not the Wii. It's a step beyond the Wii.

If it actually works consistently then it could be very good.

It seems like a more advanced version - you play the games without any controller, watch films, start conversations with friends, and it recognises individuals... etc

Nah, it's just their way of grabbing some of the wii's market. Besides, did you see how ridiculously awesome that looked?

How is this similar to the Wii? It's similar to the eye toy if anything, but it has no similarity with the Wii whatsoever save for the fact that motion is incorporated.

The only thing that really took my fancy was the fighting game. I also think Microsoft are going to have some nasty lawsuits on their hands in the future.

Also the only real problem I can see here is their devotion to seeing this thing succeed. Rare are meant to be making games for this peripheral, but Rare are a shell of their former selves since Doak left. If they put some serious effort into this it could do well.

P.S. isn't this made by the same people who did Z-Cam?

Microsoft is catering to casual gamers to edge in on the Wii's success in a desperate and shameless attempt to get more money, and they are selling their soul and the loyalty of their hardcore gamers in the process.

And yes, I am speaking for all hardcore gamers when I say that.

I agree completely. Thank you very much for the link, Caboose. After seeing that I realise I picked the wrong option. If this works it will totally revolutionise gaming. It probably won't, sadly, but if it does then it will be worth every inch of me being a 360 owner. It will so make up for Heavy Rain and the PS3, I will probably lead a march of thanks to Bill Gates' house. And that is something I would normally kill myself before doing.

Looks like too far a leap for "revolutionizing" gaming, but I guess it's just me; the lack of having some controller to hold made me feel less in control when I tried out the EyeToy, and I doubt this will change.

Well, you obviously aren't. I myself am a hardcore gamer and have been since about 6 years old (I'm 18 now). This could be the best thing to come from the gaming industry since motion capture was first thought of, and I don't say that lightly. Any true hardcore gamer would be over the moon to hear this news, myself included. Have you seen the trailer? Just think how that would totally revolutionise gameplay for any of your favourite games. Pick any game not targeted towards the casual market, my choice will be Gears of War. Imagine, having to actually crouch down into cover, holding the gun and firing at enemies yourself? Get rid of the targeting system, it's all down to your own ability. That would be the most immersive thing to ever come from any gaming company to date. The Wii and the PS2's Eyetoy have nothing on this. Just because most Wii games cater to the casul demographic, it doesn't mean all motion sensor and motion capture technology within gaming falls in the same circle.

Im just curious here, is it made for MASSIVE Living rooms?

The video shows a fairly big room and people (at times) doing pritty exagerated movements with huge kicks and jumping about.

but what about the Bedroom gamers? they'd have slim to no space to do anything just play racing games.

Ohh and The Wii-mote through the tv? Pshha now thanks to Xbox360 we have Shoes through screens!
